Inspection summary

Loong's Chinese has been inspected 4 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since February 25, 2025. The most recent inspection, on December 4, 2025, recorded 1 infraction.

1 of 4 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 2 inspections with 4 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Pests, Handwashing and staff hygiene and Cleaning and sanitizing.

The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • PestsHigher risk

Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on December 4, 2025. For example: The premises is free of pests.

  • Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk

Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on November 24, 2025. For example: Each employee demonstrates good personal hygiene and washes their hands as often as necessary to prevent the contamination of food.

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded once on November 24, 2025. For example: The premises and all equipment, utensils, and food contact surfaces are maintained in good condition and used in a manner that ensures safe and sanitary food handling.

  • Permits, records and postingLower risk

Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on November 24, 2025. For example: Operator of a food service establishment has developed, maintained, and followed approved written procedures to ensure that a health hazard does not occur.

The food is here amazing and so delicious! Genuinely. Best Chinese food in West Van and possibly North Van. The waiters are so nice! Really great spot. I will go many times more. Just look at the pictures…the food tastes even better in real life. Don’t forget, you have to preorder the chicken dish. So juicy and flavorful.

Absolutely 10/10, dining in this restaurant I was almost getting emotional. I came from the same town as the chef and his son and I could tell how well they put their hearts and effort into all the dishes, trying to share the essence of Shunde style cooking and understanding of good ingredients. Wish them all well and bless diners’ taste buds! We will come back when we visit Vancouver again.

Authentic Guangdong Shunde cuisine, open for about two months. It has no connection with the previous Japanese restaurant. The only staff are a handsome young waiter and his father. It can get quite busy sometimes, so making a reservation is recommended. So delicious!😋

If you do not speak cantonese; do not come to this place. So it’s hard to order. They do not have a menu. Or there were lists of food written on their wall but the guy will recommend a food that is over price 😓 (but when he recommend it, he didn’t mention the price) For 2 dishes plus rice. We spent $200+ And there were only 3 of us. Such a rip off.

This is the worst sushi place I've ever been to. Dirty place (you can see it everywhere), rude service and TERRIBLE food. Ordered a Tuna Tataki and side salad for lunch. The Albacore tuna was frozen in the middle which is a health hazard as they receive the fish frozen, sear it, then freeze it again - this goes against very basic food safety practices. The dressing flavor was horrible for both dishes. They saw I left half of the dish on my plate (I only ate part of it because I was really hungry) and didn't say anything. I told them it is not correct to serve a dish frozen and chef lied saying "he made it that morning". I was very bitter to pay $20 for a small portion of frozen, low quality albacore and some lettuce with bad dressing.
