Inspection summary
Lovelarte Coffee has been inspected 9 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since July 25, 2022. The most recent inspection, on September 25, 2026, recorded 1 infraction.
3 of 9 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 1 infraction recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Pests, Cleaning and sanitizing and Handwashing and staff hygiene.
Recent inspections have recorded fewer infractions than earlier ones, so the record is improving.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
PestsHigher risk
Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.
Recorded 4 times across 4 separate inspections, most recently on July 21, 2025. For example:
The premises is free of pests.
Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk
Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.
Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on June 7, 2023. For example:
All equipment, food contact surfaces, utensils, dishes & glasses used on the premises are washed and sanitized in a manner that removes contamination.
Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk
Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.
Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on August 2, 2022. For example:
Each employee demonstrates good personal hygiene and washes their hands as often as necessary to prevent the contamination of food.
Food temperature controlHigher risk
Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.
Recorded once on June 7, 2023. For example:
Potentially hazardous food is at a refrigerated temperature that keeps it safe to eat.
Permits, records and postingLower risk
Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.
Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on September 25, 2026. For example:
Operator of a food service establishment has developed, maintained, and followed approved written procedures to ensure that a health hazard does not occur.

Brief coffee stop mid-day on a Tuesday. Had their Iced Caramel Macchiato and an Iced Matcha Latte. At the counter, they ask about sugar preference (sweetened or unsweetened). I added oat milk to my latte for an extra charge of $1.25. Refreshing! The price is on par for most coffee shops or chains out there, but at $8.14 with the oat milk add for a 12 oz, it's not an everyday spend. I did think there was too much ice for my liking as it waters down the matcha with time, so if I return, I'd request less. Lots of pockets of seating inside and during sunny days, it's quite bright and welcoming with the windows and layout. We didn't feel rushed although it wasn't crowded (and there were a number of people working on laptops). Prompt and friendly service.

Really cozy cafe nearby Vancouver Public Library. I had a Spanish latte which has the condensed milk and milk together. It’s a little bit sweeter than the regular one but still delicious. And there are lots of seats, so come to have a coffee break anytime.

This coffeeshop has the loveliest staff, many seating options, stellar pastries and food, and an impressive selection of beans from across Canada*. Also, it’s ideally located under the Central Library. I also love that they support the local running community by organizing the bi-annual West Van Run 🙌🏽 The atmosphere varies during the day: sometimes it’s super quiet with people working/reading, and sometimes it’s buzzing with meetings and friend catch-ups, or kids and parents hanging out (there’s a daycare above). Lastly, they also make and sell their own ceramics: pureamics. *Monogram, Prototype, Pilot, Ex Animo, JJ Bean, Ethica, Pallet, and Phil & Sebastian.

I’m obsessed with this coffee shop! The atmosphere is so lovely, calm, and peaceful, making it the perfect place for meetings or getting some focused work done. The quality of the coffee is amazing, and the Spanish latte is absolutely delicious. I’ve had it twice so far, and it’s been excellent every time. Highly recommend!
