Inspection summary
Lucky Hong Kong Restaurant has been inspected 39 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since October 13, 2015. The most recent inspection, on June 25, 2026, recorded 1 infraction.
7 of 39 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 3 inspections with 7 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Cleaning and sanitizing, Pests and Protecting food from contamination.
The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk
Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.
Recorded 27 times across 20 separate inspections, most recently on June 19, 2026. For example:
The premises and all equipment, utensils, and food contact surfaces are maintained in good condition and used in a manner that ensures safe and sanitary food handling.
PestsHigher risk
Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.
Recorded 19 times across 15 separate inspections, most recently on September 19, 2025. For example:
The premises is free of pests.
Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk
This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.
Recorded 17 times across 14 separate inspections, most recently on June 18, 2026. For example:
Food is handled in a sanitary manner and is not subject to contamination.
Food temperature controlHigher risk
Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.
Recorded 12 times across 10 separate inspections, most recently on June 18, 2026. For example:
Potentially hazardous food is cooled in a manner that makes it safe to eat.
Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk
Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.
Recorded 8 times across 7 separate inspections, most recently on June 18, 2026. For example:
Each employee demonstrates good personal hygiene and washes their hands as often as necessary to prevent the contamination of food.

This is a hidden gem in Richmond - I’m surprised it doesn't get way more traffic for the quality they are putting out. The restaurant is run by three amazing, attentive front-of-house staff who provide excellent, welcoming service. What makes this place so special is its versatility. They excel at classic Cantonese seafood and dining, but they also perfectly execute Hong Kong-style dishes. If you are looking for an incredible deal, their seafood is unmatched. We ordered a massive 7.5 lb king crab set for and the pricing was exceptionally reasonable. This came with steamed legs, stir fried crab with rice cakes, fried rice/noodles, and deep fried milk as dessert. We paired it separately with their seafood fish maw soup, which is easily one of the best I’ve ever had in the city—they do not skimp on the fish maw at all. Highly recommend!

The restaurant is located in Terra Nova mall Richmond. There a plenty of space for parking. I went there with my friend. It's a fun place to hang out and eat together. The service is good. One of us is vegetarian, and they offer several options, which my friend liked. It's close to the dyke, so before or after eating, you can still walk around the dyke. the view is very beautiful and stunning at dyke.

Yo this place is slept on! Came for a family meal and it was way better than I expected. The honey garlic ribs in particular were probably the best I’ve had… piping hot and crispy and great depth of flavour. Portion sizes are generous. Only downside is a bit more greasy than I like, but I was also fresh off a plane ride so my senses were a bit off. Service is great for a Chinese place, don’t expect too much and you’ll be fine.

Lots of lunch special and combo deals. Big dinning room, server was attentive. Had the crunch noodle with beef in black bean sauce. Presentation was impressive with noodle moulded a cube shape. However, the beef in black bean sauce was not pipping hot and had not much taste to it. They take credit card payment.

Lucky Hong Kong Restaurant #140-3671 Westminster Hwy Richmond BC #richmond #familydinner #chachantan #HongKongFood #combo #lobster We came to this restaurant with some out of town friends. It is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. There are two doors, one with a lot of signage that you think is a side door but it’s the front door, there is also another double glass door around the corner. I was pleasantly surprised that the pricing was very reasonable. For dinner we ordered 2 sets of 1 lobster + 2 dishes for a total of 2 lobsters and 4 dishes for 9 people. Lobster 1 with Ginger and Onion Lobster 2 with Cheesy Cream Sauce - the sauce was so tasty, a few of us just ate it with white rice Steamed Sea Bass with Garlic Sauce (+$7.99) Tiger Prawns in Salted Egg Yolk Sauce Chicken with Salted Fish Tofu Hotpot BBQ Pork We also added House Special Fried Noodles with Chicken, Scallop, Fish, with Super Crunchy Noodles.. the noodles came out like a brick house with all the items in the middle. If you love crunchy noodles, this does not disappoint. Whole meal included tax and tips come to $33 each for 9 people. The servers were busy but attentive and friendly, we will definitely return again. I also took photos of their lunch specials in case anyone wants to go by for lunch. Regular menu pricing was also very reasonable.
