Inspection summary

Luppolo Brewing Company - Kitchen has been inspected 15 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since February 20, 2017. The most recent inspection, on March 10, 2026, found no infractions.

9 of 15 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 0 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Food temperature control, Pests and Cleaning and sanitizing.

The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Food temperature controlHigher risk

Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.

Recorded 3 times across 3 separate inspections, most recently on September 11, 2025. For example: Potentially hazardous food is thawed in a manner that makes it safe to eat.

  • PestsHigher risk

Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.

Recorded 3 times across 3 separate inspections, most recently on September 11, 2025. For example: The premises is free of pests.

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on January 3, 2024. For example: All equipment, food contact surfaces, utensils, dishes & glasses used on the premises are washed and sanitized in a manner that removes contamination.

  • Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk

Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.

Recorded once on September 19, 2024. For example: Each employee demonstrates good personal hygiene and washes their hands as often as necessary to prevent the contamination of food.

  • Permits, records and postingLower risk

Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.

Recorded 3 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on December 20, 2023. For example: An operator of a food service establishment must develop, maintain, and follow written procedures to ensure that a health hazard does not occur in the operation of the establishment.

I don’t drink, but I tried their house soda ($4 for 12oz) and found it pretty average. The pizza, though, was fantastic. I had the Gorganzilla (without arugula) $23, and it was an amazing pizza. I was really looking forward to checking this place out, but the service left me a bit disappointed. I get that it was busy, but I would’ve appreciated a little more engagement or info about the place. I had to ask about their products, and when I said I didn’t want to try, they just walked off. I was mostly left alone, which is fine, but when I asked for pepper flakes, they didn’t have any and instead tried to upsell me on a sauce, even though I was already halfway through my meal. The pizza alone makes it worth trying once, but overall, I don’t think I’d frequent.

The sweet heat pepperoni pizza and limoncello beer were delicious. The pizza had a nice crispy thin crust, the sauce was flavourful, and the hot honey paired really nice with the pepperoni cups. The beer was light and refreshing. Good service and overall atmosphere. I'd come back again.

I have had enjoyable visits to Luppolo Brewing Co on Venables Street in East Van. I have enjoyed Dine Vancouver and other events here. I love the food options and drinks offered. Plenty of inside seating and a comfortable dog friendly outdoor seating area. A must visit when in the area. A BC Ale Trail sponsor.

Just come eat here and thank me later. The pizzas here are amazing - generous portions, well priced, fresh quality ingredients. The craft stouts were just the same goodness with the Nutella stout a standout - divine and silky. Luppolo is very generous on their cheese! The house handmade meatballs were also very good. One critical thing to note is when one eats preserved meats, usually it may have a gamey taste to it. The meats here did not which is a plus and goes to show the ingredients are truly good. Place is clean, especially the bathrooms. Big and welcoming but a little on the cold side which also caused the food to go cold quickly - the only downside but might be a serious pet peeve for many especially since cold pizza and meatballs don't taste good. Servers were kind, attentive and warm. An excellent place to dine in on a regular basis on the weekend.
