Inspection summary

Lynx Cafe has been inspected 10 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since June 8, 2016. The most recent inspection, on June 4, 2026, found no infractions.

4 of 10 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 0 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Protecting food from contamination, Food temperature control and Cleaning and sanitizing.

The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on March 20, 2025. For example: Food is handled in a sanitary manner and is not subject to contamination.

  • Food temperature controlHigher risk

Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on June 2, 2017. For example: Potentially hazardous food is at a refrigerated temperature that keeps it safe to eat.

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded once on March 20, 2025. For example: All equipment, food contact surfaces, utensils, dishes & glasses used on the premises are washed and sanitized in a manner that removes contamination.

  • Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk

Floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and clean, with working lighting, ventilation, plumbing, hot and cold water, and washrooms. These are rarely an immediate food-safety risk on their own, but persistent problems can lead to pest or sanitation issues.

Recorded 3 times across 3 separate inspections, most recently on March 20, 2025. For example: Operation and maintenance of premises is in accordance with approved floor plans and specifications.

  • Food safety training and certificationLower risk

Most jurisdictions require a certified food handler or manager on site, and some require allergen or food-worker training. These findings mean the paperwork or the trained person was missing at the time. They do not by themselves mean food was handled unsafely.

Recorded once on February 10, 2022. For example: A Certified food safety training course has been taken by the operator and food handlers of the food service establishment.

⭐ Lynx Café, Pemberton — such a gem! Stopped in on our drive to Kamloops and it did not disappoint. Tried my very first bison burger and wow… absolutely delicious. Paired it with a yummy coffee that hit the spot perfectly. The views around the café were spectacular — the kind that make you slow down, breathe it in, and just enjoy the moment. A lovely little stop that made the drive even better.

Best burger in the middle of nowhere. We bought 2 bison burgers, breads were very fresh, meats were juicy perfectly cooked.

Great spot for good food while passing through Pemberton. Good views and they have picnic benches to sit on. Tried fish burger and veggie (falafel patty) was awesome, fresh ingredients.

Tasty spot for an early morning bite and something to drink. The croissant sandwich was very good and the chai was great as well. Looking forward to going back for lunch some time.

Was thrilled to find this ‘little’ place in the Pemberton Visitor Centre parking lot. Staffed by two very friendly ladies speaking Japanese, the Lynx Cafe is a quick and easy place to grab breakfast (or something else) to go. I opted for a breakfast burger and a latte and was super happy - especially with the b-burger. Wow! Domo arigato, see you both again soon!
