      • Observation: Soap dispenser at hand washing station in assembly room was full and sounded as if were dispensing but no soap was coming out. Liquid soap must be accessible at all times at each hand washing station.
      • Corrective Action(s): Adjust/repair dispenser or replace dispenser such that a consistent supply of soap is available at all times. Due: tomorrow

      • Observation: Four open cans of product (tomato, bamboo shoots, pears) were being stored in the original can. All product that remains after the can is opened and used, any remaining product MUST be transferred to a non-reactive container (such as plastic) to prevent product from corroding can and metals leaching into contents.
      • Corrective Action(s): Have staff transfer product to another container and remind/ensure that staff are aware to do this moving forward. Due: today

      • Observation: Plumbing for hand washing station in main production area (next to ice machine) was disconnected. Staff stated this is likely because the plumbing keeps getting knocked hard with equipment.
      • Corrective Action(s): Repair plumbing and install a protective barrier around plumbing to prevent it from being knocked and disconnected.

    • 401 - Adequate handwashing stations not available for employees [s. 21(4)]
      • Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Three hand washing stations were not fully stocked or in good repair at start of inspection. Main hand washing station near entry the soap dispenser was not functional, the second hand washing station in processing area the grey water pipe was disconnected from main line (this was noted in the previous inspection) and the hand washing station in the order assembly cooler did not have soap or paper towel.
      • Corrective Action(s): Soap and paper towel were restocked/available again during inspection. Grey water pipe reconnected but still needs to be permanently glued/reconnected. Due: March 29, 2024

    • 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: Three tins of canned food (two tomato paste/sauce one fruit) were opened and remaining contents were stored in the can in the cooler. Once cans are opened oxygen is intoduced and if the contents are acidic enough, they can corrode the inside of the can.
      • Corrective Action(s): Ensure that staff transfer any remaining food from an open can to a non-reactive container (ex plastic) after use, before storing in the fridge.

    • 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Quats sanitizer in spray bottles used on food contact surfaces measured above 400ppm. Two quats sanitizer dispensers on site, the one at the three compartment sink dispensed at 200ppm while the other next to the hot water tank measured at 400ppm. Manufacturer's instructions on the side of the 20L bottle of concentrate state that concentrations above 400ppm the product must be rinsed off as it could leave a chemical residual.
      • Corrective Action(s): Either remind and ensure staff only use the lower 200ppm concentration in the spray bottles or ensure that staff are rinsing all the food contact surfaces off afterwards.

      • 304 - Premises not free of pests [s. 26(a)]
      • Observation: Mouse droppings observed in the back warehouse area as well as in an electrical room off the main processing area. In warehouse one bag of rice was observed to have several mouse droppings on it and chewed into. Perimeter inspection of premise revealed two locations where mice are likely getting in; bottom corners of two main receiving bay doors. Also the door to the electrical room off the main processing area has a large gap underneath which is allowing mice to move between the two rooms.
      • Corrective Action(s): 1) Discard bag of rice that was chewed into by mice. Due: today
      • 2) Seal up gaps in the receiving bay doors and install pest proof weather stripping under the electrical room door. Due: May 5, 2023
      • 3) Thoroughly clean up all droppings, sanitizing areas where they were found. Due: May 3rd, 2023

      • 308 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not in good working order [s. 16(b)]
      • Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Grey water plumbing for hand wash station next to the ice machine was disconnected from the main stack and when the hand wash station was in use water was pouring onto the floor into the floor drain.
      • Corrective Action(s): Plumbing reconnected during inspection however the piping requires to be reglued so that it is secured in place. Due: May 1, 2023

    • 401 - Adequate handwashing stations not available for employees [s. 21(4)]
      • Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): One handwash station in the prep area was turned off and lacked any soap or paper towel. The other handwash station was fully stocked and staff stated that this is the one that they tend to use anyways.
      • Corrective Action(s): Keep all hand wash stations fully stocked at all times with hot and cold running water, liquid soap and paper towel.
      • Violation Score: 5
    • 304 - Premises not free of pests [s. 26(a)]
      • Observation: Several mouse droppings found in the receiving area along the wall with the bay doors as well as under the dry storage area with food products on pallets. Pest control company comes in biweekly.
      • Corrective Action(s): Clean up all droppings, sanitizing the area afterwards. Strongly recommend replacing pallets with shelves/risers that get food >6"/15cm up off floor as they are also easier to see and clean under.
      • Also install weather stripping under door off processing area to electrical room to help prevent pest entry into food prep areas.

      • 309 - Chemicals, cleansers, & similar agents stored or labeled improperly [s. 27]
      • Observation: Two spray bottles with a clear liquid inside lacked a label.
      • Corrective Action(s): Ensure all spray bottles have a clear label for quick and accurate identification of the chemical inside. Due: Today
