      • Observation:
      • Food stains found on exterior surface of the ice cream machine, smoothie machine, and cupboard doors. The food stains will attract pests.
      • Corrective Action(s):
      • Wash the food stains off the mentioned areas with hot water and soap, and ensure staff are cleaning these areas daily. Retrain staff on the cleaning frequency and process.

      • Observation:
      • 1) The 3-compartment sink drain pipes are leaking (sink compartment #1 & #2), water pooling on the floor. The pooling water will attract and harbor pests.
      • 2) The door gasket/seal, of the wall freezer storing chicken nuggets, is broken and the door does not close tightly. Cold air is constantly escaping and it is more difficult to keep the food frozen.
      • Corrective Action(s):
      • 1) Repair the drain pipes so they no longer leak. Clean the exterior surfaces of the drain pipes to remove any food debris to eliminate areas flies will breed in.

      • 2) Replace the door gasket/seal with a new one, so the door can tightly close. Owner stated the gaskets are on order and they are waiting for them to arrive.

      • Observation: Small gap observed between 2 doors in the back storage area. The doors open to the parking lot. Pests may enter the premises and transmit disease. Corrective action: *operator aware of issue and working to resolve it*
      • Seal the gap between the two door panels in the back storage area.

      • Observation: Food debris and grease build up observed under counters, prep tables, inside walk in cooler, under dry storage racks, etc. These conditions may result in pests being attracted and food to get cross contaminated.
      • Corrective action: Deep clean the above noted areas and entire premises routinely.

      • Observation: The plug handle on the 3rd sink of the 3 compartment sink is broken. Sink is able to hard water but the knob is difficult to access. Dishwear requires to be submerged in sanitizer for a period of time to destroy microbes.
      • Corrective action: switch the usage of the sink sinks which sanitation can occur in a sink that can easily hold water. Use the third sink for rinsing. Ensure all dishwear is washed/rinsed/sanitzied (QUAT @ 200ppm).
      • Repair the unit and ensure all 3 sinks can hold water.

    • 101 - Plans/construction/alterations not in accordance with the Regulation [s. 3; s. 4]
      • Observation: Major construction occurring in the premises, this has been occurring for the last 2 weeks. The play place is being removed and a walk-in-freezer is being installed in the location. The existing walk-in-freezer is operating as a walk-in-cooler now, as the original walk-in-cooler was removed. No floor plans have been submitted to our office for approval, to ensure the proposed renovations meet health regulations.
      • Corrective Action(s): Immediately submit floor plans of the proposed renovations for review and approval. Failure to do so will result in the closure of the premises and/or suspension of construction until floor plans are provided and approved.
      • **Correction date: Immediately**

      • Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Dust is being generated from the construction area and travelling into food processing and storage areas. The dust will fall onto food and equipment, and contaminate it.
      • Corrective Action(s): The construction area must be separated/sealed off to prevent dust and other debris from entering food processing and storage areas. During the inspection, the construction staff started sealing off the area with poly-plasitc.

      • Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): At time of inspection, the back door was propped open so construction staff could easily enter/exit the premises. The door is allowing flies to enter the food premises.
      • Corrective Action(s): Immediately close the door and it must remain closed at all times, or separate/seal the construction area off so flies are unable to enter food storage and processing areas. During the inspection, construction staff started installing poly-plastic to separate/seal the construction area from food storage & processing area.

      • 311 - Premises not maintained as per approved plans [s. 6(1)(b)]
      • Observation: Major renovations to the premises is occurring withouth the Health Authority's knowledge and or approval of the proposed floor plans. This is a requirement of the Food Premises Regulations, to ensure the proposed renovations meet health standards, and to ensure certain measures are being put in place to protect food, if construction is occurring during operating hours.
      • Corrective Action(s): Immediately forward a copy of the floor plans, for the proposed renovations to the premises, to our office for review and approval. Failure to do so, will result in closure of the premises and/or suspending construction until the floor plans are received and approved.
