    • 19. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Critical)?
      • -It was indicated that plush toys and costumes are washed regularly after each use. They are not removed during outbreaks. It is recommended that these are removed during outbreaks, as they are more difficult to clean and disinfect. Operator indicated they would do this for any future outbreaks. -Mouthed bins are available.-Generally, toys are done daily or after use. These are sprayed with disinfectant cleaner and run through the dishwasher in the kitchen.-It was indicated that rooms are cleaned and disinfected more frequently during outbreaks (done as items and surfaces are used throughout the day). The entrance (pick up and drop off area) is done twice a day during outbreaks.-Mats are cleaned and disinfected weekly.

      • -The illness policy does states that children/staff with GI symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea are to be excluded for 24 hours. In your written illness policies update them so that it states that if a child or staff has symptoms of vomiting or diarrhea, they are to remain excluded from the daycare until they have been asymptomatic for at least 48 hours. This is to prevent potentially spreading illness unknowingly-Water temperatures were not being monitored. No thermometers available or temperature logs. Obtain a waterproof thermometer capable of measuring hot water temperatures. Create a temperature log and have staff measure and record water temperatures frequently to ensure they do not exceed 49 degrees for faucets accessible to children.
