    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • The first aid kit downstairs did not have CPR resuscitation barrier with one way valve. Please ensure this is available and that first aid kits are checked regularly and re-stocked when required. (List of requirements can be found in Appendix H of Health and Safety Guidelines).

      • The first aid kit downstairs did not have CPR resuscitation barrier with one way valve. Please ensure this is available and that first aid kits are checked regularly and re-stocked when required. (List of requirements can be found in Appendix H of Health and Safety Guidelines).
    • 11. Are parent provided foods being properly handled and stored to ensure the safety of clients in this social care facility?
      • Fridge downstairs where client food was stored did not have thermometer. Please place thermometer inside and monitor to ensure it remains below 4 degrees Celsius.
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • Red table downstairs was worn and no longer impervious to moisture and easy to clean. Refinish.
    • 20. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Non-Critical)?
      • Toys were only being sprayed down with sanitizer solution and not properly washed prior to sanitization step. Ensure toys are either washed/sanitized in dishwasher or cleaned in warm soapy water and disinfected with 100ppm chlorine solution. (Appendix F of Health and Safety Guidelines)

    • 03. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Critical)?
      • Kitchen does not have a door or other barrier separating it from the main play area upstairs.Install a door or other barrier to prevent children from entering the kitchen.
    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • Locking mechanism to storage room door located in basement stairwell is broken, so door was openable.Repair/install locking mechanism to prevent unwanted access.

      • Pair of sharp scissors, a toaster and a hot water kettle are stored in an area that were potentially accessible to children. Basement area was not in use at that time. Ensure these types of items, when not in use and properly supervised, are stored in an area or way that is inaccessible to children.

      • Newly installed coat hooks with wood board behind. The wood appears to not be sealed to promote easy cleaning.Seal wood with a heavy layer of lacquer or paint to seal the wood.

      • Washrooms located in the basement are missing toilet roll holders.Install toilet paper roll holders in washrooms.
