      • Chlorine bleach solutions in both classrooms were measured at 50 ppm. Corrected onsite. VERT-2-GO SABER (DIN:02362562) was also being used as a disinfectant.

    • 03. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Critical)?
      • (1) The bleach sanitizer bottle in classroom #2 was not properly labeled. The bleach bottle was labeled as "Multi Surface Cleaner". The label did not state that this was a bleach solution or the concentration of the chemical. Ensure all chemical bottles have labels with the name of the chemical and the concentration.(2) The facility does not have chlorine test strips on site to verify bleach solution concentration levels. Ensure test strips are available for staff to check the concentration of the bleach solution on a daily basis. (3) To make up a 100 ppm solution using household bleach: mix ½ teaspoon of bleach into 1 liter of water.
    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • (1) The Benzalkonium chloride wipes in the first aid kits in both classrooms were expired. Expiry dates of 02/2020 and 09/2020. Ensure the first aid kit is restocked with fresh supplies. See Appendix H - First Aid Equipment & Supplies, Health & Safety Guide for Operators of Child Care Facilities.
    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Non-Critical)?
      • (1) There are no cleaning lists or schedules available. Ensure all rooms have cleaning lists available that can be followed by all staff and volunteers. (2) There are no illness logs. The Director confirmed they received the outbreak management email that was sent out earlier this year. Ensure illness logs are kept and that all staff know how to document and report illnesses. Child care facilities are to call the Alberta Health Services Coordinated Early Identification and Response (CEIR) line at 1-844-343-0971 to report illness as outlined in the guide.
