    • 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
      • Gloves were being reused on clients after performing handwashing. Education was provided to staff informing them that gloves must be discarded after each use.
    • 13. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Critical)?
      • Used single use disposable blades were observed attached to a removable handle, suggesting potential reuse on clients. The blade was safely disposed of in a sharps container during the inspection and education provided to staff that blades must be discarded immediately after each use.

    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1) The facility is using a concentrate disinfectant on the client contact surfaces. The product does not appear to be prepared according to the manufacturer's instructions, since the operator described using approximately 10 drops, but the manufacturer states 20 mLs. Additionally, the contact time appears to be 10 minutes.REQUIREMENT: Ensure all disinfectants are made in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. To avoid confusion or simply this task, it is suggested that the operator obtains a non-critical disinfectant wipe which ideally has a lower contact time.2) A staff member stated that Pre-Empt CS20 is being used for client contact surfaces and is not left on for 20 minutes as required. This was corrected during the inspection; staff member was instructed to not use that product to disinfect client contact surfaces, and CS20 must be left on a surface for a minimum of 20 minutes.
    • 25. Are the equipment manufacturer's instructions for use of specific equipment available and followed?
      • The user manual for the laser machine could not be found/is not readily available for review.REQUIREMENT: Locate or obtain the user manual for the Class 4 laser machine. Ensure that the manufacturer's instructions for use are followed.
    • 30. Is the reprocessing area of a personal service facility that uses reusable equipment properly designed, managed and maintained to ensure the safety of clients?
      • The front sink which is used to reprocess non-critical tools for hair had coffee mugs stored inside the basin.Staff members were instructed to not use this sink to clean or reprocess dishes/utensils, and to instead use the sink located at the staff break area.
    • 33. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this personal services facility (Non-Critical)?
      • Several products like post-wax oil remover were portioned into non-original containers. These non-original containers were unlabelled.REQUIREMENT: To prevent any cross-mixing of products, or any confusion on the contents of bottles, ensure that all bottles/containers are labelled.
