3 inspections

  1. Routine Inspection

    1 infraction

    • 302 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not properly washed and sanitized [s. 17(2)]
      • Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Sanitizer auto feed is not working properly. Measured spray bottles at 0 ppm Quats solution. Filled spray bottle directly from auto feed and measured very light (less than 100 ppm). Filled sink from auto feed to about 4 inches and measured sink solution at 200 ppm. There seems to be a problem with the mixing valve in the dispensing unit. Maybe plugged or partially plugged or damaged.
      • Refilled the three spray bottles with solution at 200 ppm.
      • Corrective Action(s): Troubleshoot auto dispenser. Check for blockage. Have unit serviced by technician such that it dispenses at the proper ratio right away without priming the system. Must get to 200 ppm as discussed.
      • Verify it is working by checking with test strips.
      • Violation Score: 5
  2. Routine Inspection

    1 infraction

    • 303 - Equipment/facilities/hot & cold water for sanitary maintenance not adequate [s. 17(3); s. 4(1)(f)]
      • Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Tested sanitizer in spray bottle. Measured 0 ppm. Filled bowl with sanitizer from auto dispenser (primed for 10 seconds) and also measured below 100 ppm, but it did foam. Primed the system for 30 to 40 seconds and the solution tested at 200 ppm.
      • No test strips available for staff to verify solution.
      • Dispensing tube is short and difficult to angle into sink to allow system to prime. My guess is staff are not properly priming the system to allow sanitizer concentrate to mix with incoming water. This is an issue noted from my previous inspection.
      • Corrective Action(s): Two options:
      • 1 - Lengthen the dispensing tube such that it can reach the sinks, and ensure staff follow proper priming procedures (make a sign if you need to);
      • 2 - Have the chemical company service unit such that priming is not necessary anymore.
      • ***Get test strips so staff can verify sanitizer is in the water solution and adequate.
      • Check at next inspection.
      • Violation Score: 5
  3. Routine Inspection

    1 infraction

    • 303 - Equipment/facilities/hot & cold water for sanitary maintenance not adequate [s. 17(3); s. 4(1)(f)]
      • Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Sanitizer spray bottles both very low with solution (less than 100 ppm Quats). Staff change bottles daily. System may need 10 or 15 seconds to prime in order for the sanitizer to be pulled into solution. Look for foam as indicator.
      • Corrective Action(s): Spray bottles replaced with fresh solution and tested at 200 ppm. Make sure all staff are aware of this issue.
      • Violation Score: 5
