Inspection summary
Powell Donair & Kebab has been inspected 3 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since February 25, 2026. The most recent inspection, on October 13, 2026, found no infractions.
2 of 3 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 3 inspections with 5 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Cleaning and sanitizing, Handwashing and staff hygiene and Pests.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk
Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.
Recorded once on September 21, 2026. For example:
All equipment, food contact surfaces, utensils, dishes & glasses used on the premises are washed and sanitized in a manner that removes contamination.
Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk
Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.
Recorded once on September 21, 2026. For example:
Each employee demonstrates good personal hygiene and washes their hands as often as necessary to prevent the contamination of food.
PestsHigher risk
Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.
Recorded once on September 21, 2026. For example:
The premises is free of pests.
Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk
Floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and clean, with working lighting, ventilation, plumbing, hot and cold water, and washrooms. These are rarely an immediate food-safety risk on their own, but persistent problems can lead to pest or sanitation issues.
Recorded once on September 21, 2026. For example:
Operation and maintenance of premises is in accordance with approved floor plans and specifications.
Permits, records and postingLower risk
Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.
Recorded once on September 21, 2026. For example:
Operator of a food service establishment has developed, maintained, and followed approved written procedures to ensure that a health hazard does not occur.

HOLY PORTION!!! Their wraps are huge and loaded with 10+ toppings. Everything tastes super fresh and the flavors are amazing. The fries are perfectly seasoned and incredibly crispy. You can tell this is a family run place that really cares about the food and the portions they serve. Definitely coming back again! 🥙

One of the best hidden gems in East Vancouver! The food was outstanding, with generous portions, fresh ingredients. The donair plates were loaded with perfectly cooked meat, rice, salad, and hummus, and everything tasted amazing. The newly opened patio was a pleasant surprise, especially with the incredible beer specials—$4.99 pints and $15.99 pitchers. Great food, cold beer, friendly staff, and excellent value all in one place. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favour and stop by Powell Donair & Kebab. You won’t leave hungry!

The veggies were fresh, but not a Greek salad. I got it to go so I didn't see what was in the box. I dumped it on to a plate and was so disappointed because I was really craving a Greek salad. I had other stuff there before that was just ok , but that was most likely my last time there. What a shame because it's within waking distance to my place. I'll just walk to the Drive and order food from way better places.

I ordered delivery from Powell donair and kebab, it tasted pretty good. The box was filled to the top so I got a good amount of food. The prices are decent also, so if you're starving and are on a budget they might be worth a visit.

Powell Donair & Kebab never disappoints. Their chicken donair wraps are unbelievably huge — the amount of meat they pack in is unreal, and every bite is bursting with flavour. The food is always fresh, always delicious, and the customer service is truly #1. Friendly, fast, and they go above and beyond every time. If you haven’t tried this place yet, you’re missing out!

Had lunch here today and noticed they started serving beer. Ordered a Red Truck lager with my donair and it paired really well. Friendly service, clean restaurant, and good prices. Glad to have another place in the neighbourhood serving beer.
