    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • Gaps in walls/floors where cats may enter the food handling areas need to be closed off to prevent entry.
    • 21. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained in a state of good repair to allow for the safe and sanitary handling of food?
      • The current area, located behind the ice cream shop and beside the concession, being used to store food equipment and food-related items such as to-go containers and packaging is unfinished. Floors, walls and ceilings are not smooth, impervious to moisture nor easy to clean. The floors, walls and ceilings do not form a watertight seal. The area is not pest proof in any way. A discussion was had regarding the construction of a finished shed in this area to allow for proper storage of items. In the interim, all items must be stored in thick plastic containers to prevent contamination.

      • The bbq is currently located at too great a distance from the handwashing station. As discussed, it will be moved to allow for <10 metres of distance.

      • 0 ppm bleach solution was observed in the ice cream shop sanitizing spray bottle. Prepare bleach solution daily at 100 ppm, ensure testing is completed prior to opening if solution is to be re-used.
    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • Visible light was observed under the entry door to the ice cream shop, due potentially to an extension cord's placement. Please close all spaces that could allow for the entry of pest into the food handling area, and if the door does not form a tight seal and visible light is still present, please replace weatherstripping.

      • Unfinished wood was observed on the shelving unit on top of the stove in the house kitchen. Please finish the wood to ensure it is smooth, impervious to moisture and easy to clean.

      • Light fixture cover was observed to be missing in the kitchen. Please cover the light fixture to prevent contamination of food in the event of breaking.

      • One of the bottom cabinets under the sink in the ice cream shop had an unfinished edge that was not smooth durable or easy to clean. Please repair or replace.

      • The laminate tiles on the wall of the ice cream shop were observed to be in disrepair. Repair or replace.
