  1. Routine Inspection

    2 infractions

    • 308 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not in good working order [s. 16(b)]
      • Observation: Some of the serving spatulas observed during the inspection were damaged and had missing pieces. These utensils pose a potential contamination risk and must be discarded immediately to maintain food safety standards and prevent foreign object hazards.
      • Corrective Action: Any broken or damaged dishes, including serving utensils such as spatulas, must be discarded to prevent potential contamination.
    • 314 - Operator has not provided acceptable written sanitation procedures [s. 24]
      • Observation: During the inspection, no written protocols were available to guide staff in responding to contamination events, such as blood spills or food-related incidents. The absence of a Food Safety and Sanitation Plan also limits the ability of staff to reference approved procedures and undermines the facility’s preparedness in the event of a public health concern.
      • Corrective Action: Develop/update and implement a written contamination response protocol that clearly outlines all required cleaning and sanitization steps. This protocol must include notification procedures to inform the Public Health Protection Branch, Northern Health, of any incidents occurring in the kitchen or involving food items. Additionally, ensure that a current Food Safety and Sanitation Plan is always available and accessible in the kitchen. All food service staff must be trained on these documents and procedures to ensure consistent and informed responses to future incidents.
