    • 29. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained to allow for the safe and sanitary provision of personal services (Non-Critical)?
      • *The laminate countertop adjacent to the hair washing sink and left side of the single sink was lifting and had noticeable discoloration. Please repair/replace. Ensure countertop is good working condition, smooth and easy to clean.

    • 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
      • *Written procedure for decontamination of the sink for dual purpose was not in place. Sink was being used as a hand-washing sink and a sink to clean hair tools. AHS written procedure template was reviewed. Please ensure written procedure is in place.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • *Barbicide was very pale in color. Operator was not adding enough barbicide concentrate. Please ensure barbicide is prepared according to the manufacturer’s instruction (62.5mL of barbicide concentrate into a 1L of water). Under PHI observation operator properly prepared the barbicide.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • *Salon surfaces and chairs were not disinfected between clients (non-critical equipment). Cleaning was being completed and followed by Windex. Reviewed equipment classified as non-critical must be cleaned and disinfected using, at a minimum, a low-level disinfectant. Change process and ensure disinfectant is available (minimum low level)*Electric clipper was covered in hair and not cleaned and disinfected after use. Please ensure electric clippers are cleaned and disinfected between clients. Clipper was cleaned and disinfected on site. - corrected on site
