- A dried spinach leaf was found in a dry food container holding sugar. Proper scooping and storage practices were discussed with food staff to prevent cross-contamination. The spinach leaf was removed immediately by the cook at the time of inspection

- The handwashing sink was obstructed by dishwasher racks, and a container of sauce was stored on the countertop within the splash zone. Handwashing sinks must remain fully accessible at all times, and no food items may be stored within a 1‑metre splash zone to prevent contamination.Corrective action: Both violations were corrected during the inspection. The dishwasher racks were moved to clear access to the handwashing sink, and the sauce was discarded.

- Out of three handwashing stations in the kitchen, one was blocked by a cart, and the paper towel dispensers at the other two sinks were not functioning properly.Actions Taken:The cart was removed to ensure the handwashing sink remains accessible at all times.Paper towel rolls were pulled out from the dispensers and placed along the sinks for immediate use.A request has already been submitted to the Maintenance staff for repair of the dispensers.

- Observation:The can opener was stored in a dirty condition and had metal shavings at the tip.Action Taken:Staff were instructed to clean and sanitize the can opener in the dishwasher during the inspection. This violation was corrected at the time of inspection.Recommendation:Ensure the can opener is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after each use as part of routine cleaning procedures. A visible sign should be posted in the food preparation area to remind staff of this requirement.
