    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • As per the 2023 AHS Child Care Guideline, ensure that a Type 2 Basic Small First Aid Kit (CSA Standard Z1220-17) is purchased and supplied in the daycare facility. This would be the appropriate first aid kit based on the fact that there are a total of 4 Staff (which includes the Office Manager) and also the fact that Staff reside less than 20 minutes away from the daycare facility. Moreover, observed a first aid kit which had the contents taken out of the original metal container and placed into an unmarked tupperware type container which should be disc ouraged since it cannot be verified what type of first aid kit it is.

    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • 1) Taps loose in both male/female washrooms mid- hallway, repair/tightening required. This previous deficiency has been corrected.2) As discussed during the inspection, please reach out to a professional furnace company to assess the two (2) Lennox furnaces and ensure they are both in good working order, This should also include checking the furnace filters and determining if replacement of existing filters are required.
    • 21. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Critical)?
      • 1) Measured hot water temperature with the digital probe thermometer in the washroom sink at 52 C which is over the maximum acceptable temperature of 49 C.Please adjust the setting on the hot water tank accordingly to achieve this above temperature to prevent potential scalding of children.
    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Non-Critical)?
      • As discussed, facility currently does not have chlorine test strip papers for measuring proper concentration of sanitizing solution (e.g. - chlorine) for sanitizing all toys in the 3-compartment stainless steel sinks.Tentatively, should be arriving on-site sometime next week (as per Director). Moreover, as discussed with Director, the current drying system after washing toys is to place on tables (2) lined with either towels or sheets. Another alternative to consider is to purchase and install bar matting as a substitute for towels to allow for proper drainage of water from the toys to prevent any potential growth of bacteria. Note that this is not a violation.
