    • 17. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Critical)?
      • Enhance disinfection for high touch surfaces has been put in place. All upstairs classrooms had bleach solutions mixed to 1000ppm (1tsp bleach per cup of water) however, Cozy A & B did not have the higher concentration. Please ensure that all classrooms are using 1000ppm solutions for the time being to reduce the risk of illness spreading. This was corrected during the inspection.
    • 24. Are sleeping supplies and areas sufficient to ensure client safety and comfort (Non-Critical)?
      • Most classrooms store each child's bed linens in their own cubby or bin except for the 4-year old room (classroom located on the upstairs northwest corner). In this room, staff indicated that the baskets they had been using had gotten too damaged to keep using so they were stored the blankets side-by-side on the shelves. Each child's linens need to be stored separately to reduce cross-contamination if one child is sick. Please ensure that individual cubbies, bins or bags are used to store the sleeping linens.May 29: still outstanding but new bins are on order.
    • 31. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Critical)?
      • Staff had been washing the few dishes (some cutlery and the odd plate or glass) used during meals in the classroom hand sinks. This is insufficient to clean and sanitize dishes. All used dishware must be taken to the kitchen to be cleaned and sanitized using the 2-sink method.

    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • The safety belt is missing on the diaper change table in the basement women's washroom. Elevated change tables must have straps to secure the child and prevent falls. The majority of the diaper changing occurs in the classrooms so the risk here is low but to mitigate it further, please remove the change mat from this table. Staff must also be informed to only use the change table in the men's washroom.
    • 17. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Critical)?
      • The disinfectant used on surfaces in the Cozy B room was at 25ppm which is too low. Staff immediately added more bleach to bring the solution up to 200ppm. Please ensure that staff know how to correctly mix the bleach solution and use test strips to check the concentration.

    • 30. Are workers washing hands when appropriate and/or in a proper manner?
      • Staff were noted not washing their hands in between glove changes. While gloves are a good supplement to hand hygiene, they don't replace hand washing. Please ensure that staff wash their hands before putting on gloves, before handling foods, after diapering and after handling anything dirty or contaminated.

    • 08. Is this facility properly constructed (Non-Critical)?
      • The doorframe on the 19-24 months room is unfinished plywood. Even though this space isn't heavily used right now, walls and finishings still need to be smooth and easy to clean. Please paint or otherwise seal the plywood. The operator indicated that he will work with the church maintenance to get this finished.
