- 202 - Critical Food not processed in a manner that makes it safe to eat [s. 14(1)]
- Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Raw meat was stored near to ready-to-eat and frozen vegetables in the walk-in cooler and freezer. Additionally, personal items were stored on shelves above rice, and lettuce was placed in metal pans on a metal table located beneath a missing ceiling tile and light cover. Chemicals were also stored behind the table, separated only by a garbage bag. *Cross-contamination between raw meat and ready-to-eat food can result in the spread of harmful bacteria. Storing personal belongings near food can introduce contaminants, like foreign objects. Furthermore, missing ceiling fixtures may lead to physical contamination (e.g., falling debris or insects), while improper storage of chemicals increases the risk of chemical contamination.
- Corrective Action: Store raw meat separately from other foods, on the lowest shelves, in designated areas to prevent drips and contamination. Designate a separate area for personal items away from food storage and preparation zones. Install a ceiling tile and a proper light cover or do not use the area for food preparation. Relocate chemicals to a secure, designated storage area far from food preparation surfaces, if using the area for food preparation.
- 305 - Conditions observed that may allow entrance/harbouring/breeding of pests [s. 26(b),(c)]
- Observation: A gap was observed at the back door, allowing potential pest entry. The weather stripping on the back door requires repair or replacement. *Gaps in doors offer easy access for pests, which can contaminate food and food-contact surfaces.
- Corrective Action: Replace or repair weather stripping to ensure a tight seal on all exterior doors by August 30, 2025
- 306 - Food premises not maintained in a sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]
- Observation: The ice machine and can opener appeared dirty at the time of inspection and water was observed below the metal table adjacent to the ice machine. *Dirty equipment can harbour and spread harmful bacteria to food or beverages and standing water fosters mold growth contributing to unsanitary conditions.
- Corrective Action: Immediately dry and clean the area and ensure to clean and sanitize all equipment regularly according to a already established sanitation plan. Also, fix the issue to prevent any reoccurrence.
- 311 - Premises not maintained as per approved plans [s. 6(1)(b)]
- Observation: A gap was observed at the left corner of back door. The weather stripping on the back door requires repair or replacement. *Gaps in doors offer easy access for pests, which can contaminate food and food-contact surfaces.
- Corrective Action: Replace or repair weather stripping to ensure a tight seal on all exterior doors.
- 401 - Critical Adequate handwashing stations not available for employees [s. 21(4)]
- Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) The handwashing station was inaccessible, blocked by a chopping board at the time of inspection. *Obstructed handwashing stations prevent food handlers from maintaining proper hygiene, increasing the risk of foodborne illness.
- Corrective Action: Ensure handwashing stations are always accessible and free of obstructions. This violation was corrected onsite.
- 202 - Critical Food not processed in a manner that makes it safe to eat [s. 14(1)]
