      • Tape was being used on shelves and the change table in infant room.Do not use tape to refinish surfaces as it is not smooth, non-porous and easy to clean.
    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • Some items within the first aid kids have expired. Ensure that first aid kits contents are reviewed at least monthly and replaced/replenished as needed.

      • The north hand sink in the infant room was not draining properly.

      • Window was observed to be shattered following gravel spraying in the parking lot. No glass pieces were observed in the room. The area was secured by storage shelves to prevent children be in close proximity. Ensure the window is replaced immediately.

      • At the time of the visit toy shelves with toys stored on it, were observed next to the shattered window. Strongly recommend for toy storage around the area to be avoided to ensure children are not present in close proximity to the broken window. Ensure area is secured and maintained safe.

      • Some of the first aid kits had expired alcohol wipes. Ensure that first aid kits are checked on a routine basis to ensure all supplies are up to date and in quantities required.

      • Some of the binger dabbers, glue sticks, and paint being used for crafts did not have non-toxic labelling, or had non-toxic labeling and were indicated to only be used for children 3 and older.All art supplies that were not age appropriate, or did not have non-toxic labelling were removed from use.

      • Some of the curtain cords in different rooms are no longer secured to the wall.
    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • Some of the first aid kits had expired alcohol wipes. Ensure that first aid kits are checked on a routine basis to ensure all supplies are up to date and in quantities required.
    • 20. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Non-Critical)?
      • There was a child climbing structure in the infant room placed directly adjacent to a wooden shelf. The play structure was moved so that a fall zone is provided for the elevated play structure.

      • Hot water at the hand sink level appears to be very hot- measured with a probe thermometer approximate 57 C in the baby toddler room and approximate 57.7 C in senior toddler room. Motion sensor hand sinks appear to be under 43C.

      • Diapering bed at an elevated surface in the infant room, had no safety belt and the bed covers are torn.Ensure diapering bed has a secure safety belt of complete diapering on the low surface. Bed covers should be smooth, easy to clean and non-absorbent.

      • Client hands were not washed after a diaper change. Diapering procedures are not being followed. A copy of the diapering procedure will be sent with this report. Client;s completed handwashing after this observation was mentioned to the provider.Ensure client handwashing is completed, then bed is sanitized and the provider's handwashing is completed after every diaper change.

      • * Hot water temperature from hand washing sinks in the rooms was at 30C. The staff indicated that hot water temperature drops even further down after dishwashing and other activities that require hot water are done.Please note that it appears the facility does not have adequate continuous supply of hot water. This is an ongoing issue at the facility that was previously cited by a Public Health Inspector and must be corrected.Adequate hot water supply is required for activities like handwashing, dishwashing and general sanitation. March 20,2024- Ongoing violation. Hot water tank has still not been replaced. The staff indicated, the new tank was too big to fit the old space. Ensure running hot water is available.
