- 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
- Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Scoops were found in flour containers. (Public Health significance) - scoops handles may contain a high level of pathogens such as S. aureus, which can contaminate flour and causes foodborne illnesses.
- Corrective Action: The operator immediately removed the scoops, cleaned and disinfected before putting into a clean container.
- 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
- Observation: Packaged beef were found on the floor of walk-in cooler. (Public Health significance) - food stored on the floor is subjected to potential contamination from pest, dust or water, potentially increasing the risk of food borne illnesses.
- Corrective Action: Operator to make sure foods are stored at least 15cm (6 inches) off the floor.
- 307 - Repeat Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not of suitable design/material [s. 16; s. 19]
- Observation: The interior of the walk-in freezer is made of bare woods. (Public Health significance) - Materials like raw wood will absorb dust, grease and dirt, which can harbor and allow disease causing bacteria to grow to increase the risk of food contamination. Proper materials and finishing is required to ensure adequate cleaning and sanitizing.
- Corrective Action: Refinish surfaces to provide a durable easy to clean surface.
