    3 infractions

    • Did operator maintain setting and work surfaces in a safe and sanitary condition?
      • Ensure fixtures and furniture are made of smooth and impermeable materials and are easy to clean. Maintain fixtures and furniture in good repair and sanitary condition.
      • Ensure work surfaces are of such form and material that they can be readily cleaned and disinfected.
    • Did operator properly use and maintain cleaning and disinfecting products?
      • Observed debris inside the disinfectant. Clean reusable tools before disinfecting to maintain the disinfectant in a sanitary condition.
      • Follow manufacturer's instructions for use of cleaning and disinfecting product(s), where available.
    • Did operator keep disinfection records?
      • Keep disinfection records for one year at personal service setting and keep readily available for an additional two years.
      • Provide the records to a medical officer of health or public health inspector on request.
  2. Required

    2 infractions

    • Did operator maintain setting and work surfaces in a safe and sanitary condition?
      • Ensure work surfaces are of such form and material that they can be readily cleaned and disinfected.
    • Did operator provide a sharps container and properly dispose sharps?
      • Immediately after use, dispose all sharps (e.g., razor blades, credo blades, needles, lancets) in a sharps container that is located in close proximity to where the personal service is provided.
      • Do not take apart, bend, recap, recover, or otherwise manipulate needles, needle bars and other sharps after use on a client prior to disposal.
      • Dispose all sharps used for hairdressing in a sharps container that is located in close proximity to where the personal service is provided.
      • Provide a puncture and leak resistant sharps container with a fill line designed for the safe disposal of sharps compliant with the Canadian Standards Association.
      • Do not fill the sharps container past the maximum fill line.
      • Dispose sharps containers in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Protection Act, its regulations and any other applicable law of Ontario.
      • Contract the services of a licensed medical/sharps waste disposal service to provide you with proper sharps containers and remove sharps from your business for proper disposal.
