- 302 - Critical Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not properly washed and sanitized [s. 17(2)]
- Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) The spoons for mixing drinks were not properly sanitized; the Operator explained that they sanitize after 2 hours. The operator was informed that it is important that the utensils are sanitized after every use to avoid food borne illness via cross-contamination.
- Corrective Action: The operator was educated on the significance of sanitizing all the utensil/equipment and cross-contamination. The operator made the sanitizer solution for the spoons and educated his team members on the correct process of sanitizing the utensils.
- 401 - Critical Adequate handwashing stations not available for employees [s. 21(4)]
- Observation: One of the hand washing stations located at the staff washroom did not have warm water running; the operator explained that it was an issue with the hot water tank. Hand washing is a very effective process to avoid food borne illness, and if there is no warm water present, that would discourage the employees from washing their hands regularly. Warm water also helps the soap lather better.
- Corrective Action: The Operator was instructed to fix the handwashing station.
