    • 19(1)(c) A food establishment must be located, designed, constructed and maintained to ensure all of the following:  (c) that the surfaces and materials are durable, non-toxic and are easy to maintain, clean and sanitize;
      • Address the water leak and obvious water damage in the ceiling above front service/order area. Replace missing ceiling tiles. In accordance with Section 2.3 of the NS Food Retail and Food Services Code, you must ensure walls and ceilings are constructed of finishes which are smooth, impermeable, and washable.

    • 19(1)(b) A food establishment must be located, designed, constructed and maintained to ensure all of the following:  (b) that operations are carried out in an area of the food establishment that is sanitized and appropriate to the operation;
      • Flooring by ice maker machine and in the staff washroom areas are in disrepair and require maintenance. Flooring throughout food premises require cleaning. Ensure flooring surfaces throughout the premises are kept clean and in good repair (replace missing flooring tiles). In accordance with Section 2.4.2 of the NS Food Retail and Food Services Code, you must ensure all floors are durable, easily cleanable and non-slip. In accordance with Section 4.6 of the NS Food Retail and Food Services Code, you must ensure all surfaces such as floors, walls and ceilings are cleaned at a frequency that will prevent accumulation of dust, dirt and debris.
    • 19(1)(c) A food establishment must be located, designed, constructed and maintained to ensure all of the following:  (c) that the surfaces and materials are durable, non-toxic and are easy to maintain, clean and sanitize;

    • 19(3) A food establishment must have lighting, ventilation, heating, refrigeration and plumbing that is appropriate to the specific activities of the food establishment and that is considered acceptable by the Minister.
      • Provide air gap between hose connected to janitorial faucet and floor sink. In accordance with Section 2.12 and Section 2.15 of the NS Food Retail and Food Services Code, you must acquire all required approvals for plumbing systems from local and/or provincial authorities.
    • 27(a) A food establishment must develop and demonstrate policies and procedures for personnel that ensure that a person entering a food handling area or engaging in an operation in a food establishment who comes into contact with food meets all of the following: (a) the person is clean and sanitary and shows good personal hygiene;
      • Food handlers must perform hand hygiene in between glove changes. In accordance with Section 5.6 of the NS Food Retail and Food Services Code, you must: ensure Food Handlers who engage in activities which may result in the transfer of bacteria (e.g., sneezing, touching hair/ eyes/ mouth/ nose, etc.), wash their hands before resuming food service activities and food handling.

    • 19(1)(a) A food establishment must be located, designed, constructed and maintained to ensure all of the following: (a) that the risk of contaminating the food is minimized;
      • A detailed cleaning is required throughout with a continued attention to detail both on floors and food preparation surfaces.
    • 33(1) An operator must ensure that the temperature of food is controlled so that the food does not deteriorate or become inedible or unsafe.
      • In accordance with Section 3.3.3 of the Nova Scotia Food Services and Food Retail Code, you must store potentially hazardous foods at a temperature of 4 degrees Celsius or less. Fix and repair cooler.
