      • ***Toilet paper was not available at every toilet. There was no toilet paper available for the middle toilet in washroom between the Tots and the Tiny Squirts room.

      • ***There water play table with water in it in the Tykes room. the water in the paly table is only allowed to be present for up to 2 hours before it is to be drained. It is not to be left set up.

      • Sep 16, 2025Not checked at this time. The operator indicated they were still working to get the new system in place.August 2025***The hot water on the sinks checked in the children's rooms was not being maintained at a temperature between 38C and 43C. She had pictures of the maintenance person's thermometer reading adequate temperatures but this could not be reproduced during the inspection. Explained that the water temperature was to be maintained the entire time the facility was in operation.The first room for children (across from the office), Tots 2, did not have adequate warm water for hand washing.Operator indicated it would be easy to correct. Explained that the expectations were for all the water temperatures at the hand sinks for the children were to be maintained between 38C and 43C.

      • ***Nap spacing was observed to be inadequate in several rooms. Nap cots are to be spaced 60 cm (24 inches) apart to reduce the spread of germs.Discussed that the spacing was to be maintained and the children be able to be observed.Moving the cots together (within 60 cm) for patting and then moving apart was not recommended.

      • The Staff washing dishes in the room was discussed as not allowed as there were not sufficient sinks present for this operation. Explained that although there were two basins one was used for hand washing (after diapering) and that left one basin which does not meet the dishwashing requirements.

      • ***The infant room was not warm enough. When the mixing valve was moved by operator, the water leaked from the valve. Since the inspection, pictures were received that the leak had been stopped and the water was adequate for hand washing.

Water temperature for children's hand washing is to be maintained at a minimum of 38C.Feb 20, 2025***The water temperature was 25 and 26C at each of the hand sinks in the new room. Discussed and they plan on contacting the facilities and having the mixing valve adjusted.Another two sinks were checked in the in use toddler rooms and their temperatures both reached 26C.Feb 11, 2025***The water temperature at the children's sinks was 34C and 35C.       • ***the water temperature at the sink was inadequate. Temperature reached 22C.The adult sink reached 22C.***The hot water temperature was checked at an in use room at the daycare and the temperature there was 22C.

      • ***The diaper change mat was moved from where it was being stored touching the floor of the washroom to the previously discussed location under the room sink, close to where it was going to be used.

      • ***All toilets are to be stocked with toilet paper and be available for use regardless of the age of the children in the room. The reported concern with children playing with the toilet paper should be rectified with adequate supervision and is not a reason to keep the supplies unstocked.

      • Jan 10, 2025***There was a table top bead and wire toy present with the finishes worn off creating an uncleanable surface. Discussed with director and suggested that staff check toys in other rooms to reduce the chance of familiarity bias (where staff who work in the room do not notice the disrepair).Dec 5 2024***There were a couple worn toys noted during the inspection. The rainbow coloured wooden xylophones in the infant room had the paint worn off the top. There was damaged toys in the Tykes 1 room where exposed pressboard was present. Discussed with director that when this surface was exposed the toy was no longer cleanable and was to be removed. Staff were to be checking for this often. They plan on checking all the toys in December and ensuring damaged ones are removed.

      • ***there was a bead and wire floor unit with tape present on the wires. This creates an uncleanable area. Staff removed the tape during the inspection.

      • ***All toilets are to be stocked with toilet paper and be available for use regardless of the age of the children in the room. The reported concern with children playing with the toilet paper should be rectified with adequate supervision and is not a reason to keep the supplies unstocked.

      • ***Tykes 1 room had pictures of the children on the diaper changing surfaces that were covered in packing tape. This does not create a cleanable, sanitize able surface. The director had removed all the pictures before the inspection was done and put a small picture for identification on the back of each one.

      • ***There were a couple worn toys noted during the inspection. The rainbow coloured wooden xylophones in the infant room had the paint worn off the top. There was damaged toys in the Tykes 1 room where exposed pressboard was present. Discussed with director that when this surface was exposed the toy was no longer cleanable and was to be removed. Staff were to be checking for this often. They plan on checking all the toys in December and ensuring damaged ones are removed.

      • ***The cots in the tots room were made up and stood up on end all leaning together. Discussed with staff who indicated she mad up the cots. explained the potential for cross contamination and she spread out the cots. Discussed with the director who indicated that they would restaff that room so there were two workers to allow for time for the cots to be made up just before they were put out for napping.

      • ***Discussed diaper changing with staff who was not with the children and she was new and unaware of where the diaper change mat was located.Discussed afterwards with operators that a dedicated change mat was required (a designated blanket is not sufficient as it cannot be cleaned and sanitized between each use).***Tykes children were having diapers changed on the floor of the room with no mat and no sanitizing the area after each one. There were several tykes changing at the same time on the floor.Nov 12 and Nov 25: Diaper changing in the tykes 1 room was not observed at this time. Reinspection will be attempted at the appropriate time.

      • Tykes 1 children came in from outside and were sent for hand washing. there was an adult present but effective hand washing did not happen and a couple children left without using soap.Ensure staff are supervising and effective hand washing is completed.

Discussed that utensils that hit the floor were to be washed and sanitized before being re-used. Staff were instructed to get new utensils from the kitchen and return that one was proper washing and sanitizing.A second child dropped their spoon and a new one was provided from the kitchen.

      • ***There were a couple worn toys noted during the inspection. The rainbow toy had exposed pressboard and there was a yellow telephone type toy present with the paint worn off the edges.When staff clean/sanitize the toys they are to be checked for damage and removed, replaced, or refinished using non toxic finishes.

      • ***The blankets and pillows were not effectively stored to prevent cross contamination in the oldest children's room that naps. Discussed and the operator plans on brining up the volume of belongings parents send with the children.

      • ***There were unacceptable toys present in the toddler 2 room. Magnetic letters with exposed magnets were present. Discussed with the staff that the enclosed magnetic shapes were acceptable but these letters with the exposed magnets were not acceptable.Staff person removed to the sink immediately. Discussed with director afterwards and let her know of the concern.
