    • Work surfaces must be made of such form and material that they can be readily cleaned and disinfected or sterilized. (O.Reg. 136/18; Sec.8(1)(9)).
      • Ensure all work surfaces have a smooth and impervious finish.
    • Every product used when providing a personal service is stored and dispensed in a manner which prevents contamination. (O.Reg. 136/18; 11(1)).
    • Premises must have adequate storage space for necessary equipment and supplies (O.Reg. 136/18; 8(1.10)).
      • Remove equipment or material not associated with the day to day operation of the premises.
    • Ensure all reusable equipment is cleaned and disinfected or sterilized as often as necessary to prevent disease transmission (O.Reg. 136/18; Sec.10(4)).

    • Every operator must provide notice to the medical officer of health within 14 days of his or her plans to operate a personal service setting (O.Reg. 136/18; Sec. 3 (1-6)).
      • Owner/ operator of personal setting must provide the following information prior to opening /operating a PSS. 1. The name, if any, and location of the intended personal service setting. 2. The name and contact information of the person intending to operate the personal service setting. 3. A list of the personal services that will be provided at the personal service setting.
      • Owner/operator must provide notification prior to offering any additional services, carrying out renovations or discontinuing service delivery during a renovation/reconstruction.
    • Premises must have adequate storage space for necessary equipment and supplies (O.Reg. 136/18; 8(1.10)).
      • Remove equipment or material not associated with the day to day operation of the premises.
    • Ensure all reusable equipment is cleaned and disinfected or sterilized as often as necessary to prevent disease transmission (O.Reg. 136/18; Sec.10(4)).
      • Non-critical class instrument/equipment must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected with low level disinfectant.
    • Operator shall ensure all sharps are single-use only and disposed of safely in a sharps container. (O.Reg. 136/18 (10)(6-8).
      • Sharps immediately discarded after use into a sharps container.
    • Tattoo, micropigmentation and microblading equipment provided, handled and maintained in sanitary condition.
    • Washrooms are kept clean and equipped with the required supplies.
      • Ensure washroom(s) is kept in a clean and sanitary condition.
      • Provide paper towels in a dispenser at the hand wash sink.
