    • 23. Is the facility maintained in a clean and sanitary condition?
      • DUST ACCUMULATION ON CEILING TILES/VENT NEAR EXHAUST CANOPY HOOD IN KITCHEN:Observed a significant build-up of dust/debris at the above noted areas and this same violation has been noted on past inspections.The next step would be to complete the required cleaning of this build-up at this area and our Department will grant a timeframe of January 31, 2025 to complete this task.It may also be worth determining the cause of the dust build-up to prevent this from occurring.AUGUST 21, 2025 UPDATE:1) Observed significant level of dust accumulation in above areas which was originally cited earlier this year (2025) - for your follow-up. Ideally, finding the cause of the dust accumulation would be the big picture question to resolve than simply regular cleaning.2) Observed a build-up of dust in the exhaust canopy hood which requires cleaning to remove the dust build-up - for more details, see attached photograph.FEBRUARY 27, 2026 UPDATE:Same observations as observed on August 21, 2025 - requires immediate cleaning and build-up of dust appears to be a chronic issue. Please follow-up.

    • 21. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained in a state of good repair to allow for the safe and sanitary handling of food?
      • 1) Observed ceiling light fixtures (2) behind the front counter area and near the Manager's office to be burnt out and one tube burnt out respectively.Please submit an E-Facilities request to have these burnt out tubes (3 in total) replaced by FM & E as soon as possible.2) Professional canopy hood cleaning is due in September 2024 - not technically a violation but should reach out to Hydroblast to confirm date and time of cleaning.

    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • 1) Main fly light control device: top light tube is burnt out and requires replacement with new tube.2) Covering for front of device is held by velcro - is not properly secured and fell off during the inspection (when door was closed) - please replace existing velcro with new.3) Fly light control device in the dry storage room: light tube is burnt out and requires replacement with a new one. The light is required to attract the flies/insects so must be in good working order.Photos of above devices were taken during the inspection and will be included on the email to the Dietary Manager.

    • 19. Does the facility have a valid permit and does the facility operate in compliance with the conditions of that permit, or is the facility awaiting approval prior to operation?
      • Observed the existing food handling permit on the wall above the chest freezer is expired on September 30, 2023.Spoke with the Food Services Manager via phone who verified that the 2023 - 2024 food handling permit had yet been received.Subsequently, will reach out to our head office in Red Deer to issue an electronic copy of the food permit and email to the Food Services Manager directly for printing and posting.

      • Observed a significant accumulation of dust on the ceiling tiles near the exhaust canopy hood.From past inspections, this appears to be a constant issue and the cause of the dust should be determined to eliminate this issue in the future. Our Department would encourage reaching out to FM & E to see if this cause could be determined and hopefully prevent this from occurring.

    • 21. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained in a state of good repair to allow for the safe and sanitary handling of food?
      • 1) Slight accumulation of dust on the kitchen ceiling near the exhaust canopy hood - requires cleaning2) Accumulation of water and what appears to be mold on the inside of the ceiling light fixture in Walk-in Cooler #1. Moreover, there is also water staining on the wall in this same cooler below the wall mounted temperature unit - pictures of these areas of concern will be also sent via email to the Food Services Manager.3) Slight build-up of ice along the doorframe in the walk-in freezer - this build-up needs to be removed.4) Observed solid sheets of metal shelving units in the walk in coolers (2) which interfere with proper cold air circulation - would replace this existing shelving with the rack type shelving which is already in place with the walk-in freezer.Not a violation but observed that the professional cleaning of the exhaust canopy hood is due this month (September 2023) - please reach out to Hydroblast to secure a date and time for the next cleaning.
