      • Observed expired 2024 - 2025 Food Handling Permit posted on the side wall near the front counter area.Please check to verify if you had previously received the email from our Red Deer Office regarding the 2025 - 2026 Food Handling Permit - and then print and post.If you cannot find this email, please reach out to our Department and we can facilitate the issuing of another valid food handling permit.

    • 21. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained in a state of good repair to allow for the safe and sanitary handling of food?
      • CEILING LIGHT FIXTURES IN KITCHEN AREA + WALK-IN COOLER:Observed two (2) burnt out light tubes in the above areas of the kitchen - need to be replaced with new tubes to provide more adequate lighting.PROFESSIONAL EXHAUST CANOPY HOOD CLEANING:Noted that this task had already been completed in July 2025 and is normally carried out on an annual basis.

      • DUST ACCUMULATION IN THE EXHAUST CANOPY HOOD:Observed (see photograph for more details) a slight build-up of dust on the inner panels of the exhaust canopy hood.Subsequently, cleaning is required to remove all accumulations in this area.

    • 21. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained in a state of good repair to allow for the safe and sanitary handling of food?
      • Several fluorescent tubes for the ceiling fixtures were burnt out (5 in total) at the time of inspection and another burnt out light tube was also observed in the dry storage room. Moreover, the light tube in the refrigerated display case at the front counter was also non-functioning.As per Dietary Staff, FM & E are aware of these burnt out light tubes and will be addressed in the near future.
    • 23. Is the facility maintained in a clean and sanitary condition?
      • EXHAUST CANOPY HOOD UNIT:Observed a slight build-up of dust on the hood filters and requires cleaning in the near future. As per Dietary Staff, this cleaning task would be the responsibility of the professional canopy hood cleaning company which I assume is Hydroblast; however, not sure because the sticker on the side of the hood unit has been removed and which states when the cleaning was completed and the next cleaning.Pictures of this area of concern was taken during the inspection and will be provided to the Dietary Manager for review and follow-up.
