    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • Bowl of water beads was observed in toddler 2 classrooms.-Please remove the water beads from this classroom as water beads are recommended for use for children above 5 years old.*Provided guidelines for use of water beads in childcare setting in the closing comment.
    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • 1. Torn diapering mats were observed in both the Toddler 2 classroom and the preschool washroom.-Please replace the identified mats and ensure all diapering surfaces/mats are smooth, non-absorbent, and easy to clean.2. Extraneous materials were observed being stored on diapering surfaces in the Toddler 1 and Toddler 2 classrooms.-Please remove all materials from diapering or changing surfaces to facilitate proper cleaning and sanitizing of these areas.

      • Chipped painting was noted on walls in baby and preschool 1 classrooms.-Please repaint and ensure good repair.

      • 1. Three handwashing sinks in the preschool washroom were not in proper working condition.-Please repair the identified sinks and ensure they are fully operational.2. There were no hand soap bottles or dispensers in the preschool washroom at the time of inspection.-Please provide or install hand soap dispensers in the indicated area and ensure soap is available as required.

      • First aid kits in some classrooms are low on antiseptic wipes, while others are missing tweezers, scissors, and emergency blankets.-Please ensure all identified items are provided in every classroom’s first aid kit and that they are regularly stocked.
    • 20. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Non-Critical)?
      • 1. Sensory bottles have multiple layers of adhesive tape, making them difficult to clean and sanitize properly.-Please remove the tape and secure/seal the bottles using an appropriate material, such as non-toxic glue.2. Worn surfaces observed on leather-covered play structures in baby's classroom.-Please repair or replace the identified play structures to ensure proper cleaning and sanitizing of all surfaces.This infraction was corrected during the inspection.

      • Low water pressure was observed in most facility's hand sinks.-Please adjust the water pressure to ensure good quality water.

      • Some children water bottles were noted without name tags in some classrooms.-Please ensure all children water bottles are labeled with their names to prevent misuse.

      • 1) Used food cans in reach of children were used to store colouring pencils and other supplies.-Do not use open food tins to store objects for children as they are difficult to clean due to the grooves and have sharp edges from opening-Staff removed tins from reach of children2) Bleach bottles in multiple rooms were not labeled.-Ensure all chemical bottles are labeled-Operator made and delivered labels for bottles during inspection

      • Paper towel dispensers in Preschool 1 and in bathroom between preschool rooms were empty.-Ensure a sanitary method of drying hands is always available-Operator restocked paper towel

      • Toddler room - one toy in the shape of a house, constructed of fabric material over a thin frame, was not easily cleanable. The back side of the house was stained, and this toy could not be laundered based on the label.-Ensure that toys are easily cleanable and cleaned on a regular basis or when soiled-Operator was shown the toy and it was removed

    • 03. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Critical)?
      • In the pre-school bathroom, two bleach spray bottles were on the counter within reach of children.-Keep chemicals out of reach of children-Staff moved bleach to higher shelves in classrooms. Operator is recommended to add shelving in bathroom for storage of bleach or keep it under the sink
    • 17. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Critical)?
      • Toddler 2 - mouse droppings and debris were observed beneath the stairs to the diapering table.-Ensure that staff are thoroughly inspecting the facility for mouse droppings and other cleanliness issues-Ensure that staff thoroughly are regularly cleaning the facility-Area was cleaned during inspection
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • Staff room floor had lots of debris. There were also stacks of bins and baskets in the corner near the staff cubbies that rendered the area difficult to thoroughly clean.-Ensure the facility is maintained in a sanitary manner and organized in a way that facilitates regular cleaning

      • Toddler 2 - observed foam blocks with teeth marks-Ensure staff are inspecting toys that are mouthed and discarding ones that are not cleanable-Staff removed damaged toys

      • Children's jackets are overlapping when stored on hooks (pre-school 1, toddler 2).-Ensure that children's personal belongings are stored separately

      • 2. Sensory bottles were easily openable in the toddler 1 room. Please ensure they are not easily openable.
    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • **Not reviewed**There was no papertowel by the handsink in the washroom. Please ensure papertowel is available by hand sinks to dry hands.

      • Operator was using 100 ppm chlorine instead of 1000 ppm for disinfection of surfaces and items contaminated with mouse droppings.-Ensure bleach is mixed at 1000 ppm (4 tsp in 1L water). All toys and surfaces must be disinfected with 1000 ppm chlorine-Operator had staff make new bottles immediately

Mouse droppings were in contact with children’s beddings and personal items. - Sporadic droppings were observed throughout the facility such as:o staff room cabinetso inside the cabinets underneath the diaper change table where diapers are stored. Please ensure the following:o Facility is decluttered and nothing is stored on the floor to facilitate cleaning. o All hard-to-reach areas are deep cleaned and disinfectant with 1000 ppm bleacho All toys are cleaned and sanitized with a sanitizer. o All beddings are washed.o Professional pest control is implemented.

      • 1. Purple shoe shelf in the toddler 1 room is easily movable. Please secure tall furniture and furniture that are wobbly. 2. Sensory bottles were easily openable in the toddler 1 room. Please ensure they are not easily openable. 3. Oxypro (chemical) was left on the counter of the washroom. Please ensure chemicals are stored away and unreachable from children.

      • 4. Plumbing snake was left out by the toilet in toddler 1 washroom. Violation corrected.

      • There was no papertowel by the handsink in the washroom. Please ensure papertowel is available by hand sinks to dry hands.
    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • Items were missing from the first aid kit. Please replenish the first aid kit as per the manufacturer. Check that item has not deteriorated and are within their expiry date.

      • 1. Poor sanitation was noted throughout the facility which includes but is not limited to:- The toy bins, garbage bin, in preschool 1- The carpets in the classrooms- Hard to reach areas such as underneath the heaters, corners, shelves etc. - staff room Please ensure these areas are cleaned and sanitized properly.2.       • 1. Art supplies, toys, etc are stored underneath the sink in the toddler room. Please ensure no toys or art/craft supplies are stored underneath the sink. 2. Supplies were stored in the hallway and above radiators. Please ensure adequate storage space is available to store supplies.
