- Pedicure basin without recirculation: Clean and then at a minimum intermediate-level disinfect pipe-less footbath(s) and all removable parts (if applicable) after every use. First clean the footbath with detergent, water and a scrub brush. Rinse with clean water and then disinfect with an intermediate-level disinfectant for the recommended contact time.

- Pedicure basin with recirculation: Clean and then at a minimum intermediate-level disinfect recirculating (piped) footbath(s) after every use. First scrub the footbath and all removable parts with detergent, water and a scrub brush. Fill the footbath with water, add detergent and recirculate for approximately 5 minutes. Drain the footbath, rinse and recirculate with clean water. Fill the footbath above the jets with cold water and add an intermediate level disinfectant such as 2 tsps of 5.25% bleach with 2 cups of water (e.g. 20 L foot spa would require 400 ml of bleach). Recirculate the disinfectant for 10 minutes. Drain the disinfectant. Fill the tub or basin with warm water to above the jets and run the system for a few minutes to rinse out the remaining disinfectant where required. Drain the tub or basin thoroughly before use by the next client.
