    • 03. Is all food in this facility fit for human consumption and not unwholesome, spoiled, or adulterated?
      • One 4-litre can of milk was found with an expired “use by” date (November 14, 2025).This deficiency was discussed with staff. Staff was advised to check product dates on a routine basis. The expired food item was discarded during the inspection.
    • 05. Do food handlers refrain from handling food while ill and have acceptable attire and hygiene?
      • Handwashing procedures were not being followed. Staff were observed handling coffee sales transactions and then preparing coffee without washing their hands in between tasks.Discussion:It was reinforced that proper handwashing must be performed:After changing tasks (e.g., from handling money to preparing food or beverages) or whenever hands become contaminated.
    • 13. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) accessible to food handlers, located in suitable areas, and stocked with appropriate hand washing supplies?
      • Paper towels were not available at the handwashing sink in the kitchen. Ensure that handwashing supplies are maintained at all times to facilitate proper hand hygiene. This violation was corrected during the inspection
    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • No evidence of mouse droppings was found during the inspection.Staff indicated that approximately two months ago, there was a single incident where a mouse was observed in the basement. Traps were placed throughout the facility, and Orkin was consulted. Orkin confirmed that the current pest control measures are appropriate.Compliance Issue:No records of self-monitoring for pest control are being maintained.Action Required:An AHS Pest Control Checklist has been emailed to the Director separately. Please make a copy of this checklist and implement it on a monthly basis to ensure ongoing compliance.
    • 17. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this food facility (Critical)?
      • A few garbage bags containing wooden pieces and some empty boxes were found.Please ensure the tunnels around the museum are cleared to prevent any nuisance conditions.

      • There were tea bags noted surrounding hand washing sink and within splash area. PHI recommended that food items not be stored within 1 m of a splash area. Corrected during inspection.
    • 12. Are there adequate and properly operating dish washing facilities to effectively clean and sanitize equipment and utensils (unless noted elsewhere)(Non-Critical)?
      • Facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration.Please purchase chlorine test strips.
