    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • -Playdough is being made at the site using regular all purpose flour.** Please remove all homemade playdough at the site. Use commercially sold playdough, playdough made with cornstarch or use commercially purchased heat-treated flour ( or ready to eat flour). -
    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • -In infant rooms 1 & 2, the diapering mat that was on an elevated counter beside the handwash sink was not properly secured to the counter. The diapering mat also had a cloth cover over it which is not being changed in between clients and cannot be disinfected in between use. ** Please remove the cloth cover and ensure the diapering mat is clean/disinfected in between use. **Please also ensure that the diapering mat is properly secured to the elevated surface - tape is not satisfactory. -
    • 08. Is this facility properly constructed (Non-Critical)?
      • -1. In the Infant Room 2, the corner wall is damaged and missing sections, revealing some sharp edges.**Please repair the corner wall and ensure a proper finish is applied to the area so it is made smooth/easy to clean. 2. In the Toddler Room 4, the walls were damaged throughout, including on the windowsill which was covered up with tape.3. In the Preschool Room 6, there was some minor damage noted on the walls near the carpeted rug. ** Please repair the walls and ensure a proper finish is applied to the area so it is made smooth/easy to clean. 4. In the Preschool Room 5, the ceiling in the washroom was water stained. ** Please investigate the source of the water infiltration and properly repair. Then, remove the water stained/damaged ceiling tile and replace with a new one.-
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • -1. In the Infant 2 and Preschool 4 rooms, the lids of the garbage cans were heavily stained with food debris. ** Please ensure the lids are also being cleaned/disinfected regularly. Include this area as part of the cleaning schedule. 2. In the Preschool 5 washroom, there was a cracked toilet tank lid that was taped over.**Please remove the cracked tank lid and replace with a new one in good repair. 3. The gasket and lid around the washer/ dryer had an accumulation of debris within.**Please ensure this area is cleaned /disinfected regularly as well to prevent the accumulation of debris.4. Some of the sleeping mats throughout the facility were in disrepair, with the edges of the sleeping mats torn and the porous cushioning exposed. This was observed in the following rooms (but not limited to): - preschool 1 room - preschool 5 room - preschool 4 room -preschool 3 room ** Please repair or replace the sleeping mats so they are in good repair and easy to clean. -

      • - 1. In Infant 2 room, there were 2 bottles of formula in the fridge that was not labelled with a name. **Please ensure all personal items are labelled.2. In the Toddler 1 room, there were some water bottles that were not labelled with a name. ** Please ensure all personal items are labelled.3. In the Toddler 5 room, some of the parent provided foods were being stored in a shared cabinet but there was a lunch kit with no name. ** Please ensure all personal items are labelled. -
    • 29. Are washrooms / bathing facilities properly constructed, maintained and supplied (Non-Critical)?
      • -The diaper changing mats throughout the facility were being stored on top of the toilet in the washrooms. ** Store the diaper changing mats in a way that reduces the likelihood of contamination. **If the mats are stored on top of the storage cabinets in the washroom, please ensure the top of the cabinets are cleaned/disinfected as one of the cabinets had a large accumulation of dust/debris.-

      • -1. In the preschool 1 and 2 rooms, the cabinets under the handwash sinks in the rooms were accessible to children, and there were chemicals such as window cleaner and sodium bicarbonate stored in the cabinets. ** Please ensure the chemicals are relocated or the child safety locks are utilized to prevent children access. **This was corrected at the time of the inspection. 2. In the Toddler 4 room, there was a bleach water spray bottle that was not labelled, and the spray bottle was broken.** Please ensure all chemicals are properly labelled, and the bottle is replaced with a new one that operates properly. -

      • - In many rooms throughout the facility, the soap dispenser at the handwashing station was blocked as containers, toys, misc. items were stored right underneath the dispenser. **Please keep the hand washing station kept clear and fully accessible (including the dispensers) at all times to encourage proper handwashing.**This was corrected at the time of the inspection. -

      • -There were foam toys with bite marks and chunks missing noted in the Toddler 1 Room. **Remove toy as the foam makes it hard to clean/disinfect, and the toy is damaged so hard to clean. **This was corrected at the time of the inspection-

    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • There were push pins used on the walls. The inspector informed the staff/operator that push pins cannot be used as they are prone to falling and be accessible to children. The push pins were removed during the inspection.
    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • The alcohol swabs in the first-aid kits were expired. A pair of scissors was also missing in some kits. The inspector informed the staff/operator that all supplies in the first-aid kits must be routinely inspected and replaced as necessary. New alcohol swabs were obtained.
    • 20. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Non-Critical)?
      • Block cardboard boxes were being used as toys in the infant rooms. The inspector informed the staff/operator that cardboard boxes cannot be easily cleaned and disinfected between each child's use and at least daily. Please remove the cardboard boxes and do not use as toys as these are likely to be mouthed.
    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Non-Critical)?
      • Some glue/paint products did not have the AP (Approved Product) symbol. The inspector informed the staff/operator to use only non-toxic arts and crafts materials with the AP Seal by the Art and Creative Materials Institute. The glue/paint products were discarded during the inspection.

      • Small clips to hang art were in the Preschool 3 room. Ensure art display do not contain small clips or push pins as they are a choking hazard.
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • Cupboards need repair in the Preschool 6 room.
    • 19. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Critical)?
      • White kitchen in the Preschool 3 room is unsteady and needs repair.
    • 31. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Critical)?
      • The milk fridges in the Infant 1 and Infant 2 rooms were at 8C. Ensure milk fridges are set so they are 4C or below.

      • Mouldy pumpkin found in the cupboard in the Toddler 5 room. Discard pumpkin and clean the area. Check and clean out craft cupboards regularly.
