    • 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
      • Written procedures were completed during the inspection.Written procedures for cleansing skin were completed at the time of inspection for the following services: -manicure -pedicure -waxingWritten procedures for accidental skin cuts or punctures was provided to the operator at the time of inspection.Reprocessing sink will not be used for handwashing therefore written procedures for sink decontamination is not required.
    • 10. Is cleansing and antisepsis of skin and mucous membrane performed in accordance to written procedures and are suitable products being used?
      • Cleansing of the skin was not being done prior to waxing. The operator was advised to use Nivea Micellar water available in the facility to be used as a cleanser. Baby wipes were recommended for cleansing the body prior to waxing.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1. An appropriate type of disinfectant was not available for the electric hair clipper that was located in the waxing room. The instrument will no longer be used and was removed from the facility.2. The high-level disinfectant tray was too small. A suitably sized high-level disinfectant (HLD) tray with a lid was purchased from a store during the inspection. Discussed the requirement to ensure tools are fully being soaked and to ensure that HLD logs are being maintained for each tray if more than one HLD tray is being used.3. Discussed how to properly maintain high-level disinfectant logs. Templates were left on-site. New logs are required every 2 weeks unless it fails.
    • 24. Are waste sharps disposed of properly?
      • A puncture-resistant sharps container was available with no lid on the top. A puncture-resistant container with a tight-fitting lid is required for sharps disposal.
    • 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
      • 1. Cosmetic products at the pedicure stations were not properly labelled with its contents. Label decanted cosmetic products with its contents and keep original/bulk supply of all cosmetic products at the facility. The original/bulk supply must be labelled with product identity, manufacturer, directions for use and list of ingredients.2. Cosmetic products stored in the head spa client service area were not properly labelled. These products were being used for non-invasive facial and/or wellness services and did not contain English language to clearly identify what the product is, manufacturer, directions for use and list of ingredients. Remove these products from the facility.3. Sticks/spoons are being stored in bulk supply of pedicure scrubs located under the hand sink which could contaminate the bulk supply. Remove sticks/spoons after each use.
