A Sweet Romance Bakery

Love this great little independent bakery. I think it's been here for years. I always come for a sweet treat for myself on rough day. It's decently priced and I would rather have a good treat that's a bit more expensive than anything you would get at the grocery store that's terrible quality. They use good ingredients - not bad filler that you get with baked treats at the superstore. Tastes like home baking. My fav is the mini cheesecake. I always try and support local Canadian business who hire locals over big corporations. They also have a nice little seating area. I just wish the seating was comfy

A special milestone birthday meant a special cake. Sweet Caroline’s was excellent and helped us realize the special nature of this occasion! Baked goods are always fresh and delicious. The passion and dedication of the bakers and staff are evident! So pleased. This is my reliable “go-to” spot when I am in Vernon!

Bought a whole carrot cake and might be one of the worst carrot cakes I’ve tried, i liked the Black Forest but over 3/4 of this carrot cake is going in the garbage. Sorry Caroline, but your carrot cake is not good.

**Update - so the response, like all other responses with low ratings, is its the customers fault. Just read the responses… “sorry you didn’t like our version of cream cheese” “thank you for pointing out what we are” zero accountability. We literally threw away the rest of the cake even before I reached out to voice my concern.*** I don’t care what you post on here… that was NOT cream cheese icing, I know the difference. I’m disappointed ☹️ to be honest. I ordered a Red Velvet Birthday Cake, I specifically asked if it was cream cheese icing and was advised that yes, it was… we got regular white icing which was extremely sweet and not what we asked for. I’ve had Red Velvet cakes from a variety of bakery’s over the past 20 years or so and it’s pretty standard give or take slightly varying tastes. Also, there was a custard in the middle which we also were not expecting and unfortunately the Birthday kid does not like custard so this birthday cake was a complete flop… very disappointing. The candle in the photo was not included… I will say, the cake was decorated very beautifully and we were very happy with how it looked. The Red Velvet cake itself was delicious, everyone enjoyed that part. I called to discuss and I got “we always use cream cheese icing for red velvet” implying I was not truthful or I don’t know what I’m talking about. Even when I picked up the cake the staff was not friendly and I felt like I was bothering them. Furthermore; I called to voice the concerns expecting the business to perhaps make some small good will gesture to make good on the issue and all I got was “yeah, sorry about that, bye”. Had the business made good on the error I would have held back on my opinions with this review, as it can hurt businesses but when I wasn’t given the time of day and a yeah sorry with the attitude I’m busy and need to get off the phone… I won’t be back, I’ll drive to Kelowna for a cake if I have to.

This was the 86th eatery and café I visited in Vernon. I have 54 left to go. Sweet Caroline's Bakery is Vernon's most famous bakery. It was my final bakery to visit. It has by far the biggest selection of any bakery in Vernon. I was truly impressed. The prices were much more reasonable than I expected. I bought a mocha cannoli, a Treasure Chest, and a Turtles brownie for $7.10. All three were absolutely delicious. One of the workers also was very friendly with a customer outside of Vernon who asked some bizarre questions. I learned the worker immigrated from England when she was five years old. There is a ledge with three chairs where people can eat their pastries and baked goods. I took full advantage of it. I was extremely impressed. As somebody who has been to 63 countries, this bakery reminded of my favourites in Europe. Nowhere else in Vernon sells cannolis. Don't forget the cannoli! Grabbed a couple of cakes for my moms birthday. Spectacular black forest, and a gluten free vanilla that did not even remotely taste like sandy sawdust. Very great!

The treats and bread from this bakery are so good! The staff have been very friendly every time I go in, and they have a great selection of sweet treats, fresh bread and some savory snacks as well.

Lovely little bakery that serves a variety of treats. Very popular and thus can get pretty busy, but staff are polite and professional and handle queues with speed and grace. This was our second time ordering cupcakes for pick up for our kid's birthday parties and both times the cupcakes were a hit with guests of all ages. Highly recommend their cinnamon rolls as well!! :)
