Ensure all wiping cloths are stored in a solution of sanitizer or adequate concentration when not in use. (CDI) • Hard to reach areas of the kitchen have a build up of grease and food debris. This can be an attractant for pests and a risk of contaminating food contact surfaces. • The ceiling in the walk in fridge has evidence of mold growth, and the fan covers have a build up of dust. • Two light fixtures in the kitchen do not have shatterproof covers. All light fixtures require shatterproof covers to protect against contamination in the event a bulb breaks. Corrective Actions: • Deep clean all areas of the kitchen including under and around the cookline, food prep areas, and dish pit. Increase frequency of sanitation. • Clean and sanitize the ceiling and fan covers in the walk in fridge. Increase frequency of sanitation. • Replace light fixture covers, or acquire light bulb covers for all fixtures in food preparation and storage area.

    2 infractions

    • F2.2 Are proper pest control measures in place on the premises?
      • Observation(s): • Gap observed at the base of the exit door by the washrooms. This can allow the entry of pests into the facility. • Observation(s): • Rags containing food debris were stored on food contact surfaces throughout the kitchen. The moisture and food on the cloths can promote the growth of bacteria and viruses, contaminating food contact surfaces. Corrective Action: • Ensure that all wiping cloths are stored in a sanitizing solution (e.g., QUAT @200 ppm or chlorine @100 ppm) and refreshed every 2 hours. I've lived in Kamloops for 6 yrs now and this was my first time trying out Amsterdam Restaurant. It's a small but well organized, the staff are great people , smiles and gd conversation is always a welcoming way to great customers. The menu and food where a big surprise. The prices reflect the dishes you receive. Oh my goodness it was definitely a tasty treat to come here. I didn't expect such delicious food. I need to try every dish. I took pics of my dish and my friends as well as the 2 dishes beside me. I couldn't help my self . I will. E coming back for another tasty treat.

This place never disappoints. The food is amazing and I love the vibe. The only thing is that there is a waiting line on the weekend but totally worth it. We could get 2 seats at the bar without waiting though so we were lucky.

My 8yr old is hard to please in the breakfast department and she was VERY happy with her recent breakfast. So much that she upgraded her favourite Kamloops breakfast from the popular “HT” . We call before we come to ensure we get our name on the list as it’s sometimes a wait if you don’t. Staff are super attentive and ensure your visit is great. I think our gal was named Harriet if I remember correctly and we loved her! The lattes are top notch too.

We visited this Dutch Amsterdam-style breakfast spot while in Kamloops during a ski trip. We came here for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by how nice the place was. My partner ordered the special — peach and banana crepes — while I went for the Canadian breakfast. The portion for the Canadian breakfast was surprisingly large, even for someone with a big appetite like me. The crepes were also quite unique and tasted great. The only downside was the coffee — it wasn’t very aromatic or smooth, so that’s something they could improve. A funny moment happened while we were waiting for a table. The staff were very friendly and told us it would be about a 30-minute wait, so we put our name down. I decided to quickly go fill up gas while waiting, but as soon as we drove off, they texted our table right away — just our luck!

A very busy place, but food was excellent and for a single diner like myself I was quickly seated, although larger groups were left waiting for tables. But service was prompt as soon as I stepped through the door and I got my food very quick as well. Altogether I think I spent 15 minutes in there from the moment I walked in until the moment I paid and left. Food was good, but it was things I was only trying for the first time, so I can't say I know what it's "supposed to" taste like. But I was delicious nonetheless.

Tried this place out this morning. Grew up with Dutch food. Ordered a Lemon Dill Smoked Salmon Benedict with capers. The eggs were very well cooked and the egg portion was good. There was no trace of dill I could see or taste in the food though. If you are going to advertise it on your menu as lemon dill, then people are rightfully going to expect lemon dill. It was not present. Also the little square hash brown potatoes were over fried and ate like potato chips. Not like hash browns. I don't think too many people want to eat greasy crispy potato chips with their Eggs Benedict. Also, they should peel their fruit when they're charging 23 or 24 dollars a plate. My server was great. She was a doll absolutely wonderful. The lady who came and picked up the plate from the table was rude. Asked if I was working on the hash browns. I told her they were not very good and over fried. There was no apology. She just picked everything up and left because she just didn't care whether you had a good meal or not. She didn't even want to acknowledge what I had said. The disrespect towards customers that is entering our Market is becoming alarming and we may have to stop eating out so much. Never marginalize a customer. Never. So I paid exactly the menu price. I feel the owner should provide the tip portion to that wonderful server because the food failure and the kitchen cleanup persons failure to care about anything really ruined the experience for me as I informed my wonderful server that I won't be coming back. That lady that picked up the plate who was a bit older and who was loud really tore down a good otherwise good experience quickly. Personally, if it were me I wouldn't have her talking to clients. Perhaps she's part of the owners or part of the management. I don't know. But she shouldn't be interacting with clients.

Amsterdam Restaurant is our go-to restaurant. It’s been around for more than 25 years right here in Kamloops. The food is made from scratch and there are plenty of options to choose from, including gluten-free dishes. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Great food, excellent service, and a consistently positive experience every time we visit.

Cozy and welcoming. I came here twice within my 3 day trip because of all the vegan options. This is the kind of place where staff actually listen and know the menu inside out. They get vegan and vegetarian needs—no awkward explanations required. Even the toast comes with vegan butter by default.
