      • Air Conditioner was venting chemical smells directly into the mall area. This was closed off. Investigate different ways to air condition the salon, without venting directly into the mall. Ensure that a better system is in place for next summer.

      • 1. Surface on one manicure station was damaged and had a buildup of products (nail gel/ polish etc). - Repair or replace the manicure station surface.

      • 1. Reusable tools are not being rinsed with water after disinfecting in the high-level disinfectant. Metal drill bits are being placed in alcohol after disinfection, instead of rinsing with water. - Ensure that reusable tools are rinsed with water after soaking in the high-level disinfectant.2. It's not clear how the tools are being cleaned/disinfected after each client. Also, it's not clear were the clean and dirty tools are supposed to be stored. - Ensure that the facility has a clear procedure for cleaning, disinfection and tools storing.- All staff need to be trained on proper cleaning/disinfection/storage procedures.

      • Sharps container in reprocessing room was over filled and dirty. - Remove the sharp container from the facility.

      • 1. Client care areas (manicure stations, floor, UV lamps etc) had large buildup of products (nail gel/ polish etc). - Sufficiently clean the client care areas.2. Back reprocessing area was cluttered and dirty. - Remove unnecessary items so the area is easy to clean.

      • 1. Reusable tools are not being fully submerged in high-level disinfectant. Only tools' ends were being immersed in the disinfectant. - Ensure that reusable tools are completely immersed in high-level disinfectant 2. Debris found inside of fans in pedicure tubs. - The fans must be disassembled and clean and disinfect after each client.3. Dremel drill bits are being disinfected in alcohol (no DIN# or contact time). - The drill bits must be disinfected in a high level disinfectant that has DIN# and specified contact time.

      • Sharps container in reprocessing room was over filled. - Obtain a new sharp container.
    • 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
      • Client care areas (manicure stations) are visibly dirty with dust and debris. - Sufficiently clean and disinfect client care areas.

      • Reprocessing sink was not in good working order at time of inspection. Staff were turning the hot water under the sink every time when cleaning tools. - Repair the sink. The sink must have hot and cold running water.

      • Popsicle sticks were being washed and reused by staff. Used popsicle sticks were observed in clean tool trays prepared for clients. Popsicle sticks were discarded during inspection. Porous non-cleanable items must be discarded after every use.
    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • Clean stainless steel nail tools (clippers, cuticle scissors) were not visibly clean - Rust, nail debris. Ensure that all tools are visibly clean before disinfection.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1. Foot file was not able to be fully submerged in high-level disinfectant Ensure that basin for high-level disinfectant adequately provides the space to entirely submerge all tools.2. No record keeping of high-level disinfectant testing. Keep a daily log of pass/fail for high-level disinfectant.

      • Sharps container in reprocessing room was over filled. Bring sharps container to a pharmacy for proper disposal.

      • 1. "Bio-Chich Ombre Liquid" removed during inspection for containing MMA. 2. "Four Seasons Acrylic Liquid" removed during inspection for containing MMA. Ensure that all products on site do not contain ingredients on Health Canada's Cosmetic Ingredient Hot List

      • Client care areas (manicure stations) are visibly dirty with dust and debris. Manicure tables had significant build up of manicure products. Sufficiently clean and disinfect client care areas. Including windowsills that had a large accumulation of dust.

      • Reprocessing sink was not in good working order at time of inspection. Staff were using client handwashing sink for the cleaning of tools. Fix sink
