Amazing food at the Balfour Beach Inn! The backdrop is of the most beautiful lake you could ever lay eyes on. The fish and chips were absolute heaven. The batter that was wrapped around the fish was light crispy and not overly oily. Service was second to none. We will absolutely come back!!!

A truly unique experience! This restaurant offers a fascinating glimpse into a future where customer service is extinct. We walked in and achieved invisibility instantly—no greeting, no eye contact, just a void of hospitality. Thirsty? Be prepared for an adventure. After being ignored by multiple staff members in a half-empty room, I embarked on a quest to my car to retrieve a beverage. Ordering a drink finally broke the space-time continuum and seemed to genuinely annoy the server. We placed a food order, and I've aged significantly since then. In fact, I'm pretty sure we ordered back in the pre-pandemic era. The service was so slow, "over 50 months ago" feels like an understatement. Save your time and your money. After now turned wrinkled and grey our order arrive… but not exactly. Not sure who ordered the food I received, but it was certainly not what I had told later. Regardless after losing 30 pounds from yearly dying of starvation, we decided to dine anyway. No plates or calorie or provided or napkins for that matter probably just a server for taking boxes, In which we were at saying it would’ve been easier for her to pack up her food in the kitchen. Pleasantly just for the bill order top-notch can’t wait to never return.

Great place to eat. I use to stay here for holidays 20+ years ago. it's a magical place the bar/ restaurant has good food! And the building is haunted!! Super cool. I love the balfour beach inn.

Simply amazing. The BEST fish and chips with this hidden gem. The fish was light and crispy snd the fries were homemade with the most savoury dip. Service was second to none, so happy we found this amazing place with the most spectacular view. We WILL RETURN!!

Maybe they have new staff or something because I ended up eating here 3 nights while I was in the area and all 3 times the food was delicious. Sure it's an old building but the bar and restaurant side is nicely redeveloped, I didn't notice any weird smells as one person said. I had a good time here, my food came quick, prices more than reasonable for the area, their burgers are massive, tasty and fries were great too. I ate there once last year as well and was entertained with a full belly and satisfied taste buds. Don't rule this place out because of bad reviews, maybe it's not the place for every but I recommend you try it for yourself and see.

The view was nice. The server helped us fairly quickly. However food wise. The coffee was cold. The tuna salad and bowl had some of the worst tuna I've eaten as well as one of then other party. The pizza was okay. The snizel was okay but the gravy was salted to heck. So quality of dining was generally poor. Service wasn't an issue though outside of that.

The best part of our visit was the view and ambience. Service and food sucked and expensive. The person who served us (seemed high - at least dazed and confused). When we all ordered; she took everyone's order, and the food was served only 3 out of 4 us got our meal and then we had to ask what happened to the other order and she was confused. If a band is playing we will go back; other than that not to eat.

One of the nicest, old style patios on the West Arm. The ferries go by, forested mountains across the lake, quiet. Music most weekends, Kootenay Blues Society presents live bands a few times over the year. Could do with updating.

Such a welcoming, fun, inviting and relaxed atmosphere. A beautiful view. Really good and plentiful food. The owner and his staff are positive and have great humour. My husband and I love coming here for date nights.

This spot is amazing if you like skeezy dive bars or are looking for something not found at a clean establishment. Local watering hole with a reputation well deserved as a little rough. Enter at your own risk.

  • June Milner

We were there on Friday night live music jam night. Food was excellent as was the service. Totally enjoyed the music, and locals we met there. It's an older character building with lots of local history.

  • Dirk Jonker

Nice pub, service was slow ( even though it wasn't busy ). Lots of space to sit. Nice patio to over look the West Arm of Kootenay Lake & watch the ferry sail by. Beer was cold.

Been there several times. It's standard bar food but a very cool local vibe and extraordinary views. It doesn't open until 4pm in the fall and winter months.

  • Mike Place

I would like to have provided a higher rating based on ambience, but the beer selection was poor with no IPAs and what they did have for draft was flat.

  • Nick Malialis

Horrible service, rude and miserable staff. We were ignored for 32 minutes before we were even greeted. We ordered before an other group who had way more people 9, we were just 3. And they got there order before us. All we ordered were salad. Not cool
