- 19(2)(b) A food establishment must provide all of the following in accordance with applicable legislation or as considered acceptable by the Administrator:
(b) adequately designed and appropriately located hand-washing facilities;
- In accordance with Section 2.14 of the NS Food Retail and Food Services Code, you must provide at least one hand washing station in each food preparation area. Cease using the converted office room to prepare foods until you install a suitable handwash station. In accordance with Section 2.15 of the NS Food Retail and Food Services Code, you must equip the staff toilet room handwashing station with paper towel in a dispenser.
- 29(2)(a) A maintenance, cleaning and sanitation program must include procedures to ensure that all of the following are done:
(a) the food establishment and equipment are maintained, cleaned and sanitized;
- Increase the frequency at which floors, shelves, and baseboards are cleaned so that debris and food waste are not permitted to accumulate. Ensure that bleach is mixed at a foodsafe level of 100-200ppm daily (~1tsp per L). Ensure that cloths used to wipe counters are either replaced after each use or stored in sanitizer solution in accordance with section 4.2.5 (d) of the NS Food Retail and Food Services Code.
- 33(2) The operator must ensure that all refrigeration and heat-holding equipment has a temperature measuring device that is accurate and in good repair.
- In accordance with Section 4.1.11 of the Nova Scotia Food Services and Food Retail Code, you must: have a functioning thermometer(s) on all heating and cooling equipment;
- 49(1)(a) An operator must ensure that food ingredients and food packaging materials must be stored in a dry storage room or designated area that
a) protects the food ingredient or food packaging material from contamination;
- In accordance with Section 2.9 of the Nova Scotia Food Retail and Food Services Code, you must ensure stored items are protected from contamination such as water leakage, pest infestation or any other unsanitary condition by ensuring food and food packaging stored in your unfinished basement are boxed or in containers.
