Inspection summary

Caketime has been inspected 5 times by Alberta Health Services (Environmental Public Health) since November 1, 2023. The most recent inspection, on January 14, 2026, recorded 1 infraction.

3 of 5 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 1 infraction recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Cleaning and sanitizing and Pests.

The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded once on January 14, 2026. For example: Does the operator use approved methods for cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, and surfaces?

  • PestsHigher risk

Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.

Recorded once on May 7, 2024. For example: Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?

  • Permits, records and postingLower risk

Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.

Recorded once on May 7, 2024. For example: Are appropriate food handling practices and plans in place to ensure that food is handled in a manner that makes it safe to eat?

    • 06. Are appropriate food handling practices and plans in place to ensure that food is handled in a manner that makes it safe to eat?
      • Yes (corrected during inspection) - there was no current food safety record keeping process in place, and this was reviewed with the on-site operator. All staff are to be aware of the daily checklist required for recording of food safety temperature logs (an AHS daily temperature log checklist was provided to the owner/operator).

      • Yes (corrected during inspection) - there were no pest control records being maintained and kept on-site for review. The requirement for regular monthly pest control monitoring and the keeping of pest control records on-site was discussed with the operator (and this will be the ongoing procedure for all staff at the food premises from this time forward, with the AHS monthly pest control checklist provided to the owner/operator).
