- 201 - Critical Food contaminated or unfit for human consumption [s. 13]
- Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Adulterated foods on premises. Observed heavily dented can of tuna within the kitchen area. All foods on the premises must be wholesome and free from spoilage or adulteration and otherwise fit for human consumption. Unacceptable food items could cause food borne illness and become insect and rodent attractants or inadvertently be added to other food. Observed operator remove and discarded the dented can voluntarily at time of inspection.
- Corrective Action: Remove all foods that are spoiled, adulterated or otherwise unfit for human consumption from the premises.
- 302 - Critical Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not properly washed and sanitized [s. 17(2)]
- Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Observed a sanitizing bottle solution of only un-scented bleach where the solution can pose a potential chemical hazard. Health officer provided operator sanitizing solution dilution education at time of inspection. Sanitizing solutions must be strong enough to destroy bacteria on surfaces to prevent the contamination of staff, clients or food on contact with the improperly cleaned surface.
- Corrective Action: Change sanitizing solutions as required to always maintain an effective concentration (200 ppm unscented bleach, 200 ppm QUAT)- follow manufacturer's specifications)
- 501 - Operator does not have FOODSAFE Level 1 or Equivalent [s. 10(1)]
- Observation: A person in charge who has Level 1 FOODSAFE training must be on at all times the establishment is in operation.
- Corrective Action: Ensure staffing schedules provide for FoodSafe trained personnel to be present at all times.
- 502 - In operator’s absence, no staff on duty has FOODSAFE Level 1 or equivalent [s. 10(2)]
- Observation: No staff during time of inspection had valid FOODSAFE Level 1 certification.
- Corrective Action: Operator to ensure at least one staff member during premise operation hours is FOODSAFE Level 1 certified.
