Inspection summary
Echo Lake Resort has been inspected 2 times by Interior Health Authority since August 26, 2022. The most recent inspection, on August 15, 2024, recorded 3 infractions.
None of the 2 inspections on record were free of infractions. No inspections are on record from the past 12 months. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Food temperature control, Cleaning and sanitizing and Handwashing and staff hygiene.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
Food temperature controlHigher risk
Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.
Recorded once on August 15, 2024. For example:
2 Are proper temperature controls maintained to ensure safe storage and display of foods?
Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk
Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.
Recorded once on August 15, 2024. For example:
3 Are food contact surfaces, utensils and equipment washed and sanitized in a manner that removes/prevents contamination?
Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk
Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.
Recorded once on August 26, 2022. For example:
7 Are there handwashing stations available and properly supplied?
Other findingsLower risk
Findings that do not fit the categories above, such as follow-ups that confirm an earlier violation was corrected, or requirements specific to this type of facility.
Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on August 15, 2024. For example:
1 Does the facility have proper monitoring supplies?

We just came back from a 3 night stay at Echo Lakes Campground/Resort. We've been to a lot of campgrounds and this one is my Favourite one by far! You can't beat a campsite being 7 steps away from a crystal clear lake and a beautiful Mountain/Forest right across the lake! Kids went fishing and caught a nice sized rainbow trout which we cooked over a campfire while listening to the loons and watching a bald eagle fly by! I mean how does it get any better than that!? ||Campground is well maintained and clean! Owners are super nice and very accommodating! ||Other campers were nice too..pretty quiet and no partying..mainly families with kids and pups! || I was sad we had to go but will for sure come back! ||Thank you Echo lake owners and staff for providing this amazing place for people to come to and relax, unwind and make lifelong memories!

Absolutely beautiful! Echo Lake Resort has become our most treasured retreat each year—we've now visited five times. The location is stunning, the grounds and cabins are exceptionally well maintained, and the staff are always so friendly, helpful, and attentive. We've loved fishing, swimming, paddle boarding, boating, and simply relaxing by the lake. It's a truly special place that we look forward to returning to every year. Highly recommend!

I found this place just through a Google search and I’m so grateful I did! Our site was incredible with lake view and access! The grounds were clean and well keep. Staff were lovely and incredibly warm and helpful. The location is bit off the beaten path but that made it even better because it was super private We have already decided to book for next year and rent a cabin this time and stay longer! We came all the way from Vancouver and absolutely worth the trip! Also the close town of Lumby is very quant with some good eats and friendly folks! Highly recommended this place!

We have been coming to this gem of a place every year for the last 4 years. It has always been an excellent stay! John, Sara and the entire staff have been absolutely amazing. We look forward to our stay this August. It is a perfect place to relax, have laughs, enjoy the lake, bond with friends and family and completely disconnect from the busy city life.

I love this place. I have been coming here with my daughter and friends for over 10 years now and it is special to all of our hearts. Tracy, Stu and Laura were all amazing. Tracy keeps that resort running like clock work and deserves a special shout out! We will be back next year and the year after that and that and that! Thank you Echo Lake for remaining authentically rustic. Lori Smith
