Inspection summary

Everest Indian Nepali Restaurant has been inspected 10 times by Interior Health Authority since January 14, 2014. The most recent inspection, on July 7, 2026, recorded 2 infractions.

1 of 10 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 2 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Protecting food from contamination, Cleaning and sanitizing and Handwashing and staff hygiene.

Recent inspections have recorded more infractions than earlier ones, so it is worth reading the latest reports closely.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

Recorded 6 times across 4 separate inspections, most recently on January 28, 2025. For example: 7 Are foods protected from contamination?

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded 5 times across 5 separate inspections, most recently on July 7, 2026. For example: 3 Are food contact surfaces, utensils and equipment washed and sanitized in a manner that removes/prevents contamination?

  • Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk

Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.

Recorded 3 times across 3 separate inspections, most recently on January 28, 2025. For example: 7 Are there handwashing stations available and properly supplied?

  • Food temperature controlHigher risk

Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.

Recorded 3 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on August 31, 2023. For example: 3 Are proper cooling and reheating procedures followed?

  • Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk

Floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and clean, with working lighting, ventilation, plumbing, hot and cold water, and washrooms. These are rarely an immediate food-safety risk on their own, but persistent problems can lead to pest or sanitation issues.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on August 31, 2023. For example: 6 Are the premises designed and equipped to ensure safe food handling?

We’ve eaten here a few times and have loved it every time. The food is absolutely delicious and the portions sizes are huge. $50 will stuff two people with plenty left over. Everything is always extremely fresh and you can tell it is made in house. We really liked that you can choose the spice level of every dish. We felt the spice levels were perfect. We cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

I really enjoyed their food. If you ask to make dishes vegan they can do it. I got the Veggie Coconut dish with rice and it was really good. I also got the Onion Bhaji, I liked the flavour but I think we took too long to pick up because it wasn’t crispy. I would definitely order from here again.

Hidden gem in Kelowna. Food was well prepared and each dish was flavorful. Goat Curry and Aloo Gobi was outstanding. Good quantity, tasty food, reasonable prices with excellent service made our experience unforgettable. Highly recommended.

I recently tried the momos from Everest Indian Nepalese Food, but unfortunately, they didn’t meet my expectations. The momos had a slight blackish color and seemed a bit oily. They were served within five minutes, which made me feel like they were just reheated from a pre-made batch rather than freshly prepared. I’ve tried momos from many places before, and these didn’t quite capture the authentic Nepali taste or texture I was hoping for. Maybe I just caught them on an off day or tried the wrong kind, but overall, it wasn’t a great momo experience for me.
