Inspection summary

Farmer Johns Market has been inspected 2 times by Interior Health Authority since June 11, 2025. The most recent inspection, on June 24, 2026, recorded 1 infraction.

None of the 2 inspections on record were free of infractions. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 1 infraction recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Pests and Protecting food from contamination.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • PestsHigher risk

Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.

Recorded once on June 24, 2026. For example: 2 Are proper pest control measures in place on the premises?

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

Recorded once on June 11, 2025. For example: 5 Are the premises and equipment properly maintained and operated in a sanitary manner (i.e. ongoing maintenance)?

A great place to stop for a stretch break while driving through the area. We stopped here on our way from Revelstoke to Kelowna and were pleasantly surprised. The market is very well organized, with plenty of local products, souvenirs, and snacks to browse. The highlight was definitely the ice cream—easily one of the best I've ever had! The surrounding scenery is beautiful, making it a relaxing place to take a break from the road. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended if you're passing through and looking for a quick stop to refresh and enjoy some great treats.

Stopped here on the way to Calgary and it was such a great experience! Farmer John’s farmers market has a wonderful selection of fresh local produce, a fantastic café, and delicious food coming out of the oven. Everything felt fresh, welcoming, and well organized. It’s the perfect place to take a break from the drive, grab something to eat, and pick up some quality local products and don’t forget to pay with baby cows. I’ll definitely be stopping here again whenever I’m passing through. Highly recommend! PHOENIX CAPITALS

Can't say enough positive things about our experience! Absolutely the best coffee I've ever been served, yummy ice cream with huge portions, lovely selection of fresh fruit and goodies to take home. The staff are warm and friendly. And then there are the baby cows. You can buy some feed for them and it's just so fun. Highly recommend.

We dropped into Farmer John’s Market travelling between Banff and Kelowna and loved the calm environment . The whole experience was excellent. Friendly staff, delicious and simple food. Creamy ice cream . We sat outside and watched the Highland cattle while we ate. Then to top off the experience we went to see the cows . Frolicking calves who were mischievous and funny . Nosy mamma cows watching a newly born calf. What more can you want . Thank you for this memorable experience
