    • 17. Does the pool have adequate written policies, plans and posted rules and safety information to ensure that the pool is operating in a safe manner?
      • Bather load signage is visible to the public. Maximum load: 120. Depth markings are visible to the public. Anti-entrapment plan is available on site. *Please ensure a water contamination response log is available in the case of fecal/vomit incidents. A printed copy can be kept along with the other records.
  3. Monitoring Inspection

    5 infractions

    • 04. Is the chemical quality of the water in this pool satisfactory (Critical)?
      • The free available chlorine concentration in the pool was 0.09ppm. Ensure that FAC in the pool is maintained at a concentration of at least 1.0ppm. Written records do not indicate that chlorine levels are being tested daily. The pH of the pool showed OR (overrange) on the pool testing kit. The pH was too high for the test kit to detect. The cyanuric acid concentration of the pool was at 0ppm. Ensure cyanuric acid is present in the pool to maintain chlorine stability (no higher than 50ppm).Ensure that free chlorine, combined chlorine, and pH are being manually tested at least once per day. Ensure the automated reader (ORP and pH) is being recorded at least once per day.
    • 05. Is the chemical quality of the water in this pool satisfactory (Non-Critical)?
      • The total alkalinity of the pool showed OR (overrange) on the pool testing kit. Written records from the operator shows that alkalinity was 300 on June 9th at 7am. Ensure that alkalinity is maintained between 60-180ppm.Alkalinity must be manually tested for and recorded at least once per week.
    • 12. Are the general safety devices and physical conditions in this pool providing a safe environment (Critical)?
      • The pool water was cloudy, particularly in the deepest section of the pool (3.4m), making the submerged disc and the two main drains not clearly visible from the pool deck.
    • 16. Are proper testing, monitoring, and other records being properly maintained?
      • Chemical parameters are not being tested and recorded properly. Free chlorine is not being tested and recorded daily, and instead, the ORP from the automated reader is recorded in its place. Ensure that the free chlorine concentration of the pool is tested and recorded daily. The ORP should be recorded in its own column. Total chlorine levels are not being recorded, despite there being a column for it. Ensure total chlorine concentrations are being recorded to properly assess the combined chlorine levels of the pool.
    • 17. Does the pool have adequate written policies, plans and posted rules and safety information to ensure that the pool is operating in a safe manner?
      • No bather load visible to the public. Please add to signage.Deck was recently completed. Ensure all depth markings are visible to the public.Ensure the fecal contamination protocol is printed out and available for staff. A template will be emailed to staff. Please send anti entrapment plans for review.June 16 update: - Anti entrapment plan was available for review. - Depth markings are visible, though not the greatest as they appear to be drawn onto the edge of the pool and are wearing off in certain areas. Please ensure that - Maximum bather load signage is posted and visible to bathers. - Fecal contamination protocol is printed and available to staff. Ensure that staff are knowledgeable on fecal contamination protocols.

      • 150 HPC present.
    • 04. Is the chemical quality of the water in this pool satisfactory (Critical)?
      • Inspectors testing kit: FC measured 0.10 ppm; TC measured 0.05 ppm. pH 7.3, alkalinity was over range. Staffs test kit: <1 ppm. Little to no color change when free chlorine reagent was added to vile. Cyanuric acid is not used for this outdoor pool. Discussed purchasing Cyanuric acid as it acts as a chlorine stabilizer. Chlorine dissipates quickly on hot, sunny days. Operator manually added chlorine to pool which increased free chlorine to 0.60 ppm.Staff were instructed to close the pool until they could maintain a consistent free chlorine level of 2-3 ppm. If they could maintain that chlorine level then they could re-open. Swim classes were scheduled throughout the remainder of day.Inspector discussed returning to pool in two hours to measure chlorine levels. Returned to pool 2-3 hours later. Free chlorine measured 0.06 ppm. Discussed using water treatment plant chemistry kit as it gives an accurate reading for chlorine. Ensure all staff are familiar with minimum chemistry levels should be and what to do when the chemistry reaches below minimum. Staff were instructed to close the pool.
    • 16. Are proper testing, monitoring, and other records being properly maintained?
      • Free chlorine and pH is tested daily but not recorded. Please ensure to test and record daily: total chlorine, combine chlorine, pH & CYA when purchased. Alkalinity can be measured and recorded weekly. Please purchase product to decrease alkalinity for pool.Ensure any maintenance (backwashing filters), adding chemicals, cleaning (skimmer baskets, bottom of basin), etc is recorded.
