    • 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
      • The bulk supplies were not being protected from contamination. Wooden spatulas were noted inside the big jars of products stored beside the pedicure chairs. Operator were noted being putting their hands with contaminated gloves inside the jars to hold the wooden spatula in order to dispense the product.Pre-portion the products before attending the client.
    • 30. Is the reprocessing area of a personal service facility that uses reusable equipment properly designed, managed and maintained to ensure the safety of clients?
      • The reprocessing was noted being accessible to the public and being used for hand washing.The reprocessing must not be accesssible to the public. The sink in the waxing room was recommneded to be designated as reprocessing sink and post a sign "No hand washing"

    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1-The high level disinfectant was not being tested daily.2-The high level disinfectant was being re-used beyond 14 days. The high level disinectant solution in the container was noted being contaminated with suspended particles.3-Contact time for high level disfectant was not being followed for semi-critical tools.4-High level disinfectant test records were not available for review.High level disinfectant from the container was discarded onsite and after cleaning and drying the container was refilled and tested using High level disinfectant test strips. The test results were recorded in the daily HLD testing log sheet provided by PHI.

      • 1-Disinfectant bottle was noted without label.Ensure all bottles containing chemical are adequately labelled to indicate their contents correctly.2-The tinting products were not labelled with their beyond use dates. Their instructions for use were not available with the tubes.Mark the expiry date of each tinting product with its expiry date. Keep manufacturer instructions for use available in the facility.
    • 29. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained to allow for the safe and sanitary provision of personal services (Non-Critical)?
      • 1-Surfaces of several pedicure chairs were peeling off. The chairs are not cleanable and sanitizable. Resurface required.2-The surface of the waxing bed was in disrepair, Put a cover over the bed which is impervious to moisture and smooth. Ensure all surfaces in the facility are impervious to moisture, smooth easy to clean and in good repair.3-Faucet of the hand sink in the washroom was not properly secured. Fix it

      • Hand washing was being done in the reprocessing sink.Designate sink for reprocessing of semi-critical tools. And post a sign on the sink "No Hand washing Sink".Hand washing will be done in the washroom sink.
