- It was observed that the tweezers used for waxing are not being disinfected with the appropriate disinfectant between clients. To ensure proper disinfection occurs, it is essential that tweezers be cleaned and disinfected using, at a minimum, a low-level disinfectant. Please ensure that the disinfectant used has a Drug Identification Number (DIN) on the label.Alternatively, a daily-made bleach solution can be used. To prepare this, mix 1/4 teaspoon of undiluted bleach with 1 liter of water. It is important to use sodium hypochlorite litmus test strips to confirm the correct concentration. Before immersion, tweezers must be cleaned with detergent, air-dried, and then immersed in the bleach solution for at least 2 minutes.As another option, 70% alcohol can be used. In this case, tweezers should be cleaned with detergent first, air-dried, and then immersed in alcohol for a minimum of 10 minutes.
