    • 22. Are utensils and equipment maintained in a condition and a manner that ensures the safe handling of food?
      • Ice buildup remains present inside the walk-in freezer and was observed to be substantial at the time of inspection. Excessive ice accumulation can interfere with proper air circulation, prevent effective cleaning, and create potential safety hazards when accessing stored food. Although the freezer temperature was observed at −18 °C at the time of inspection, ice buildup may prevent the unit from maintaining consistent temperatures throughout the freezer. During defrost cycles, accumulated ice may also melt and drip, which may contaminate exposed food or food contact surfaces. This issue was previously noted during the last routine inspection. Please remove the ice buildup and maintain the freezer in good repair and in a condition that allows for proper operation and cleaning.

      • 1. Urinals showed visible buildup and staining around the drain area. Please ensure washroom fixtures are thoroughly cleaned and maintained free of scale or residue.2. One toilet stall in the women's washroom was out of order at the time of inspection. Please ensure the fixture is repaired and returned to service as soon as possible. Washroom fixtures must be maintained in good working order.

    • 21. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained in a state of good repair to allow for the safe and sanitary handling of food?
      • Walk-in cooler and freezer lighting was not functioning. Inadequate lighting may prevent proper inspection, cleaning, and monitoring of stored food. Please repair or replace light fixtures to ensure adequate lighting is provided.
    • 22. Are utensils and equipment maintained in a condition and a manner that ensures the safe handling of food?
      • Ice buildup was observed inside the walk-in freezer. The operator indicated this was due to the freezer door being left open or ajar. Excessive ice accumulation may interfere with air circulation, cleaning, and safe access to stored food. Although the freezer temperature was observed at −18 °C at the time of inspection, similar ice buildup was also noted during the previous routine inspection. Please remove the ice buildup and implement measures to ensure the freezer door remains closed to prevent recurrence.

      • Unused equipment may accumulate grease and debris, creating sanitation and pest concerns. Please either remove the deep fryer from the facility or ensure it is maintained in a clean and sanitary condition at all times.

      • Fans inside hot holding units were visibly dirty. Accumulated grease and debris may affect equipment performance and contaminate food. Please clean the fans and include them in the regular cleaning schedule.

      • Back-of-house areas were not maintained in a clean condition. Floor spills were observed, including syrup leaking and pooling on the floor. These conditions may attract pests and interfere with effective cleaning. Please clean all affected areas promptly and maintain floors and storage areas in a clean and sanitary condition.

      • Build-up was observed on the wall partition between the self-serve slush machines. Accumulated residue may contribute to unsanitary conditions and hinder effective cleaning in a food service area.

      • Public washrooms were not maintained in a satisfactory condition at the time of inspection. Please clean the public washrooms and maintain them in a clean and sanitary condition at all times.

      • Observed some ice buildup in the walk-in freezer. Please clean the area and remove the ice to ensure the freezer continues to maintain the proper temperature

      • Please clean the following areas:1. Nozzles of slush machines.2. Cutting board - was found stored dirty.3. Men's public washroom - urinal is visibly dirty and the other urinal must be repaired. Compliance date for #3 above will be on or after Dec 1, 2024.
