I’m going to let you in on a little secret: there is a local gem tucked away inside the Yew Street Food Hall (on Tranquille Road) that my wife and I have been to literally thousands of times. It’s that one spot you love so deeply that you repeatedly go there, yet somehow never get around to posting a review about it. Well, it's finally time to fix that! Harvest Moon Bakery is owned by an incredibly nice, humble, and cooperative couple named Christy and Nick. While they are always right there on the shop floor, they also have an amazing team behind them consisting of three talented women working the bakery. Among them is Catalina, who serves as one of the head bakers alongside Christy. Catalina brings her own signature touch to the menu with her incredible sourdough donuts and apple fritters! Her sourdough donuts only pop up on Mondays and Tuesdays, and they are an absolute specialty. I’ll definitely have to do a full review on those fritters and donuts another time, but they deserve a massive shoutout right now because her baking is just as spectacular as everything else here. They open at 9:00 AM daily, closing at 4:00 PM on weekdays and stretching until 5:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. They freshly bake an amazing array of goodies from scratch every single day. They carry four to five types of cookies daily, plus delicious fruit bars, pastries, cakes, and even do customized cakes. They also have an incredible bread selection, including sourdough, potato bread, whole wheat, and all-grain breads. If you come in after 12:00 PM, they serve fantastic soups and sandwiches. A really cool thing about Harvest Moon is that their soup, scone, and muffin flavors change completely every single day, so there is always something new to try. Yesterday, they featured a beef and barley soup that smelled amazing, but since we arrived around 9:30 AM, we were strictly on breakfast duty! Honestly, their pastries are an absolute priority for our family. My brother lives in Vancouver, and the literal first thing he wants to do the second he hits Kamloops is come here for their scones and croissants. Yesterday, he and his friend came up for a visit, and he wanted to treat us to our favorite spot. Here is exactly how our massive bakery run went down: - Poppy Seed Scone ($3.50): My brother grabbed this, and it was the perfect, fresh daily flavor. - Original Croissant ($5.00): His friend went classic. He was completely losing his mind over it, repeating how incredibly buttery it was—like tasting rich butter in every single bite. If you want a pure, unadulterated pastry to pair with a hot drink, this is it. - Cheese Croissant ($5.50): My wife opted for this savory, flaky beauty. It was so incredibly cheesy and rich. If you are a cheese lover, this is a definite, absolute must-try! Pistachio Croissant ($8.50): I ordered this, and let me tell you, it is hands-down the best pistachio croissant in the entire world. It’s perfectly crunchy on the outside, incredibly moist on the inside, and packed with a generous amount of pistachio spread that isn't overly sweet. It is their bestseller for a reason, and at $8.50, it is an absolute must-try! - The Coffee ($2.75): The three of us boys grabbed their medium roast coffee. For just $2.75, it is arguably the best medium roast coffee in all of Canada. They source both their coffee beans and their amazing honey from a local farm in Shuswap. It cuts through the buttery pastry beautifully. Even after all of that, my wife and I were still riding a wave of hunger, so we went back to the counter for round two! I ordered a second Pistachio Croissant because I just couldn't get enough, and she grabbed a Cinnamon Bun ($5.00). Their cinnamon bun isn't your average, overly sugary baked good. It’s more of a sticky bun twist—loaded with rich caramel and packed with crunchy pecans in every single bite. If you love cinnamon, you will thank me later. Because they are located right inside the Yew Street Food Hall, you can grab your coffee and pastries, sit down, and watch the World Cup games.

Such a cute little spot. I was greeted warmly and there was a really wonderful array of fresh items to choose from. The person working was friendly, super knowledgeable about what they were selling, and very sweet to interact with (maybe that's the baked goods rubbing off on them? Or is it the other way around?) I had asked for suggestions to impress my friend with and they ended up being bang on. The cinnamon rolls were decadent, definitely sold out every day for a reason. I also got the cheese croissant and it was stuffed full, not stingy at all which I find sometimes with other "filled" items. I will definitely come back to try all their other treats. Thanks so much!

Thankyou to the good folks at Moon Bakery! Another delicious sweet potato cake for my son in laws birthday. They just love!! So polite the gentleman on the phone. Unfortunately we live in Kamloops and going to have to come back to Calgary for more moon cake! Have had previously and is my favorite the best ever cake. Masterful.

Bakery is in a good location. I was disappointed with their cinnamon bun that I ordered. It looked like it was fresh baked and yet it was overcooked on the bottom and the sticky sauce on it was so hard to chew. I also had a coffee which was mediocre. Tasted like a hotel blend. I’m not sure I would return. Not a lot of selections and didn’t see much bread available for purchase.
