Inspection summary
Holi Masala Truck has been inspected 19 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since January 25, 2016. The most recent inspection, on March 13, 2026, found no infractions.
10 of 19 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 0 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Food temperature control and Cleaning and sanitizing.
The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
Food temperature controlHigher risk
Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.
Recorded 8 times across 7 separate inspections, most recently on May 13, 2025. For example:
Potentially hazardous food is at a refrigerated temperature that keeps it safe to eat.
Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk
Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.
Recorded 4 times across 4 separate inspections, most recently on May 13, 2025. For example:
The premises and all equipment, utensils, and food contact surfaces are maintained in good condition and used in a manner that ensures safe and sanitary food handling.
Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk
Floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and clean, with working lighting, ventilation, plumbing, hot and cold water, and washrooms. These are rarely an immediate food-safety risk on their own, but persistent problems can lead to pest or sanitation issues.
Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on May 13, 2025. For example:
Operation and maintenance of premises is in accordance with approved floor plans and specifications.
Permits, records and postingLower risk
Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.
Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on June 8, 2019. For example:
An operator of a food service establishment must develop, maintain, and follow written procedures to ensure that a health hazard does not occur in the operation of the establishment.

Received a note from our neighbours this was going to be in our area so we thought we would check it out for lunch. Lots of choices for all types of diets and had a hard time deciding what to get because everything sounded so good. I decided on the masala fries and butter chicken bowl. WOW! The fries were really good and flavorful but the mango aioli was the real star of the show! So good I never want to eat regular fries again. The butter chicken bowl was also really good and came with lots of chunks of chicken, very flavourful. My coworker got the samosa explosion which was also really amazing. The service was fast and friendly. Can’t wait for this truck to come back to our area! Definitely a must try!!!

The lamb curry is so well cooked and delicious. They’ve always given me fantastic service. If we’re out in the Vancouver rain they never fail to provide their patrons chai to stay warm while waiting for their food. Can’t wait for them to be back downtown!

10 stars to the Basa fish tacos with Indian Twist. Great taste. Darn good nostalgia from Bombay! Highly recommended.

Just tried this truck at the street food festival. The Chana Masala is labelled vegan so I ordered it only to find paneer in it. Apparently, despite no indication of this on the board, only the bowl is vegan, the combo is not. I also ordered the vegetable pakora only to find a black hair in it. (I have pink hair so it was certainly not mine.) Additionally, the "salad" that came with both dishes was just chopped up romaine, cabbage, and kale with absolutely nothing else, no dressing. Very, very dissapointed.

Video review on youtube: vancity food crew columbia strEAT food truck fest 2018 I saw this food truck at the food truck fest and ordered a butter chicken poutine. Its a bit different from your classic poutine, as you get yam fries instead of potato fries, butter chicken sauce instead of gravy, and paneer instead of curds. It also has chicken obviously. The poutine itself was fine but I felt like there was too much sauce. They do have other items so I would try this food truck again for sure.
